Am enjoying The Moon Field, a book set around the time of WWI, one of my favourite eras for books.. A complete change from the magical world of Half Wild. I like to vary my books so I don't read anything too similar one after the other, does anyone else like to do that? :)

I do most of the time, unless I find a new genre that I'm completely amazed by/interested in that I read a couple of those right in a row. A lot of the time I'm reading a book and it might have a hint of a different genre, which makes me want to read a book in that genre next

The Moon Field sounds interesting. I love books in that era as well  :D

I do this too, most of the time. Though if I'm reading a trilogy I sometimes read them all after each other, but sometimes with one or multiple books in between. During the read-a-thon I tend to read more contemporary fiction than anything else, but generally with my reads, I switch genres a lot. Like if I read a contemporary book, then after that I'll read a fantasy, or if I've just read a historical book, I'll then pick science-fiction etc. I don't like to read too similar books one after the other usually, that gets too samey somehow.

I've read the first chapter of Philip K. Dick - A Scanner Darkly and I'm on page 494 out of 753 of Penny Vincenzi - A Perfect Heritage. I don't often read two books at once because it usually confuses me, but Anna and I are reading the Philip K. Dick book together and I thought it might be nice to read something shorter alongside the longer book.

I finished Empire of the Sun last night (thank goodness!), and started The Girl on the Train this morning. So far I like it, especially how the characters are linked.

Finished A Month in the Country by J.L. Carr .. really enjoyed it. Have moved on to My Dear Bessie which is a collection of letters written by a signalman (Chris Barker) serving in North Africa (Tobruk) in WWII. They are written to Bessie (obviously) .. just as a friend to start with but quickly they become love letters. I love anything like this .. even though it does feel a bit like eavesdropping :blush2:

Also continuing on at St Clare's .. great fun :)

I finished A Time to Kill and really enjoyed it. I'll be posting a review soon

Not sure what is up next for me, but I plan on going to the library in a couple hours so we shall see.

I shall go forth to your thread and read the review :)!

I hope you find some nice books at the library :).

I'm still reading A Perfect Heritage and A Scanner Darkly but I've been quite distracted so I'm only reading for ie. 5 or 10 minutes and then I get distracted by something else. I don't know if it's A Perfect Heritage that's the problem, or whether I'm not feeling much like reading, or whether I just have trouble concentrating because of being a bit ill. I'm going to try to limit distractions today and see how I get on. I seem to enjoy the reading once I'm reading for a little while, but to get started, I don't quite feel like it. But I do want to do some more reading, particularly in A Scanner Darkly. I hope my mojo won't disappear or anything.

I finished Black Dog by Stephen Booth last night and started re-reading A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon, which I've been wanting to re-read for years now. I have a feeling I'm going to have a hoot with it! :smile2:

Glad you enjoyed it; it's one of Grisham's better ones. Have you seen the movie?

I've been like this for a little while, and it didn't help that I was reading a book I wasn't that keen on. Luckily, my current book seems to have sorted me out. Hope you have a better time with reading soon.

I enjoyed A Spot of Bother, but unfortunately can't actually remember any details about it.  Hope you get on with it ok.

I'm enjoying The Girl on the Train. It's all a bit mysterious at the moment. :boogie:

That's the beauty of it, though :D It's like reading it for the first time when I don't remember what's gonna happen :D

The book might have to take a back seat, though, because I got my copy of My Fatter Madder Diary today! :exc:

I ended up not going because I didn't have a ride :( but I hope to go sometime this week. If not, I have already started two books. I'm reading Gray Mountain by Grisham on kindle and Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult as a physical book.

I want to see it! I'm not sure where I will be able to find it as there aren't many movie rental places anymore and I doubt it is on redbox. Maybe I'll get lucky and netflix or hulu will have it.

Edit::  Not sure why I can't delete the misquote above.  I accidentally quoted Athena and now can't get it off......help! :blush2:

I feel honoured to have been the misquote :P.

Awww :(. I hope you enjoy both of these books, though :)!

I finished Penny Vincenzi - A Perfect Heritage and will now continue in Philip K. Dick - A Scanner Darkly, I'm just over a quarter into that one. So far it's interesting.

I hope you enjoy it :). I read quite a bit in it today, so not that many pages left for me to go. But don't feel rushed :friends0:.

:giggle2:   I actually meant to quote an earlier one, but then I couldn't find it.....oy!  :blush2:

I'm about halfway through The Girl on the Train. Rachel is a bit annoying, I have to say! :theboss:

Oh, I know, I just wanted to shake her at times!!

I just finished Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. What can I say other than 10/10.

I am now in need of another book to read.

I've been struggling with The Man in the High Castle. :(

To be honest, I think it's just a lack of time to concentrate and get into the characters. I want something familiar, so I've picked up The Rosie Effect. Sod it, I'm going straight for the sequel!

I finished Haruki Murakami's Underground this morning. I don't often post reviews, but I have a lot to say about this book, so I'll be posting my thoughts at some stage.

I started Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier this morning, but I won't have much time for reading in the next few days, so I'll probably make a proper start on it next week.

I also picked up Secret Garden by Johanna Basford from the post office. It's lovely! :)

BY no means am I a convert to this coloring business *crosses arms* ( :P ) but I did order her postcards to send to a friend.  They are so pretty I don't want to color them in (and probably won't!).  Ok ok, I also bought a book to color in different decorated cakes, cupcakes and candy :hide:

I look forward to this, as this is one I hope to read (although definitely not on the plane!).
