Athena
Yesterday I watched the last Jonathan Creek special, The Clue of the Savant's Thumb. I liked it but there was a bit too much going on I thought, and I'm not quite clear of the motive. It was entertaining to watch though but a bit confusing. What have you watched recently? Signor Finzione
Not much lately, except the first episode of the new series of Sherlock, which was brilliant! I've never seen Jonathan Creek. Is it a comedy or a drama?

pontalba
Catching up on this season's NCIS, on Amazon streaming. Plus we've watched a few of the original Inspector Morse I had on VHS tape around here, yes, they are that old. I'd love to get the series, but am thinking about buying an all region DVD player, so as to get the DVDs cheaper. Much cheaper!
Athena
Not much lately, except the first episode of the new series of Sherlock, which was brilliant! I've never seen Jonathan Creek. Is it a comedy or a drama?x It's a bit of both. Jonathan Creek and his partner try and solve mysterious cases that seem impossible at first glance. It has British humour and it's not just about the cases, there's backstory involved and scenes about the characters (the main ones but also side characters that might be involved in the case). Jonathan Creek works for a magician thinking up his tricks. Personally I preferred the older episodes and specials over the two newest specials, the last two seemed a bit complicated. It should be shown now and then on British TV, though I don't remember which TV station I first saw it on when I was on holidays in the UK. We just had the premiere of the latest NCIS season ( 10 ? ) last Friday. Oh - I wonder if your current DVD player could be hackable to make it multi-regional. chaliepud
Which version Hayley? The Charles Dance one, was that the one you recommended?
poppyshake
The Charles Dance one, was that the one you recommended? No .. I haven't really seen that one. I saw some of it once but missed the second part I think. I really like the old b&w film version with Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier but I expect this one is more authentic. Hope you're enjoying it.
chaliepud
It has been very loyal to the book so far, the acting is a little wooden, but charming in its own way. If you have catch up TV it is on there at the moment.

It's an old machine, probably at least 15 years old. /sigh/ Its one of those that has a VCR and DVD combo. So, I guess it's time to get a new one anyhow. lol

Not that this applies to you `cos it was bought in the UK, but I got my player from a place that Steve told me about - it`s a Blu-Ray player which also plays multi-regional DVDs - it also streams stuff like BBCiplayer, so I use it a lot to listen to things on BBCRadio4 extra, like Dorolty L Sayers mysteries. I`m guessing you could upgrade to a player which does all sorts of exciting things too.

Ruth
I started watching Dracula yesterday. I had been recording them all, and watched the first two episodes - thought they were brilliant. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is perfect in the title role, and I'm looking forward to binge-watching the rest of the series Also, I watched the first episode of Longmire last week, and will be carrying on with that. Very enjoyable, and I like to see Lou Diamond Phillips back on tv.
