I downloaded and started The Man Who Folded Himself, a book published the year I was born, about time travel.

By David Gerrold?  I've heard a bit about that - it seems to get mentioned a lot alongside Replay

Have you thought about reading it at some point?

That's the one - and even at the beginning I can see similarities. However, I believe this one was published first? Will be interesting...

I had to google the book. I might check if they have copies of it at the library. Interesting! :)

It did briefly cross my mind after I read Replay - but then I got distracted by other shiny things :giggle2:

I read the Gerrold book, and didn't care for it at all.  It didn't have near the depth or character development of Replay, I believe I finished it, but only by the hardest. heh

I think that statement settles it for me... :giggle2:

It's true, it's true.....^^^^^^^^^^^ what he said. :)

As my Aunt used to say.....'to each their own kettle of fish!' :)

Sigh.. and I was looking forward to it!

Never mind, I may still try it.. :)

Oh, do give it a go! You might really like it, we all have our own different tastes :) And moods that influence our tastes at a given moment. Don't let other people's opinions put you off of something you're excited about :)

I keep adding books to my read list, without making comments. I've just finished book 56, and I'm wondering if I can make it to 60 by the end of year. I keep going through phases of starting a book/audiobook and giving up on it, so I can't be sure.

I think my last few, since posting are:

The Reviver by Seth Patrick - review
No One Gets Out Alive by Adam Nevill - review
Florence and Giles by John Harding - interesting, I keep meaning to write my review..
Venus by Ben Bova - I can't remember much of this one, to be honest!
Coping with Headaches and Migraines by Alison Frith
My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga - review
Endgame: The Calling by James Frey - pretty good, quite addictive, looking forward to the second one!

Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgewick - very thought provoking, will probably re-read.

Mr Mercedes by Stephen King (audio) - a good offering from Mr King - recommended.

Endgame sounds like an interesting premise for a book, so I'm glad you liked this one. It's always good to see Stephen King writing another nice book, too. I'm glad you've been reading some nice books (and listening to some nice audiobooks), though it's a shame about these phases where you don't feel much like reading / listening. I hope maybe next year will be a better year for you, books-wise :).

I've just finished book 58, and my audiobook, Revival, is nearly finished, so I should make 60 books by the end of the year. :)

I decided to try Angelfall by Susan Ee, after being persuaded that there wasn't a silly romance in it. I loved it, and went straight on to the 2nd book, World After. I'll review properly soon, but it's definitely recommended. I guess it's officially YA, but it had me gripped. :)

I have an hour left on my audiobook, so I really want to finish that by midnight. That will take me to 62 books read / listened to - plus many started but not carried on with, lots of them audiobooks.

Flicking through my list, my stand out reads have been:

Shattered by Teri Terry - this finished off a really good YA trilogy. I particularly liked it because there wasn't a weak book, all 3 were really good.

Glaze by Kim Curran - a tech future which could be very close!

The Machine by James Smythe

Above by Isla Moreley - not what I expected!

The Ex-Heroes series by Peter Clines, and 14 - my new 'must read' author.

Terra and Terra's World by Mitch Benn - one of my audio highlights.

The Bone Dragon by Alexia Casale.

Extinction Game by Gary Gibson - very accessible SF.

The Reviver and The Returned by Seth Patrick.

No One Gets Out Alive by Adam Nevill - his best yet!

Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgewick - a gorgeous cover, and a brilliant read!

Mr Mercedes by Stephen King - I didn't think I'd like this one as much as I did. Better than Revival, in my opinion.

Angelfall and World After by Susan Ee - I'm looking forward to the last part in 2015.

Bird Box by Josh Malerman - my almost finished audiobook, has been excellent.

My 60th book is done, and a lovely one it was too. It was an early present from Janet, and I simply had to open it. It's The Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo, and it was a perfect pre-Christmas read. Thank you Janet. :)

Somehow I managed to miss this post but I'm glad you enjoyed it.  :)  xx
