~Andrea~
Right new year new start! I hope this year I'll be able to finish more books than last year since I only managed 21! I declare this thread open

Of course, Rebecca ( I just bought a copy for my Kindle for a re-read sometime . The Toby Jugg one sounded so good, I put a sample on my Kindle,so will probably end up buying it .. there I go already ! My no more books rule down the drain before the year starts . ~Andrea~
Thanks Julie. Whoops - those wish lists are infectious aren't they?
julie
Yes they are , Andrea ! Just bought the Toby Jugg one . If I were better organized, I should write down the name of the person whose list I got the book from, then I would remember after reading it . I'm not very organized, though , so I'll save that for someone else if they want to do it .
chesilbeach
Happy reading in 2014, Andrea. Nice to see your wish list - I have far too many books on my wish list to be able to put them all in a single post!

poppyshake
Happy New Year and Happy Reading in 2014 Andrea! Your wishlist is vast but your TBR is totally under control which is just as it should be. I seem to have got it the other way around (though my wishlist isn't exactly under control )
~Andrea~
Thanks Poppyshake. Happy new year to you too. I have to keep my TBR under control because I am a slow reader. I'm quite impulsive and used to just buy books when I wanted them and then they would languish on my shelves, never again tempting me bringing me nothing but guilt. Now I've replaced my impulse buys with additions to the wish list. It's a lot cheaper Edited January 2, 2014 by ~Andrea~

~Andrea~
I started listening to Room by Emma Donaghue today.
Chrissy
Happy Reading this year Andrea. Who is the narrator on your 'Room' audio? I can't think of ay voice for it!
~Andrea~
There are four readers: Michal Friedman, Ellen Archer, Suzanne Toren, Robert Petkoff (although I've only heard 3 voices so far). I don't know who is narrating Jack. I thought I'd find the childish voice irritating after a while but I haven't, perhaps because the story is so compelling. I'm loving it so far
~Andrea~
Just noticed The Secret History is the Jan reading circle so I'm going to join in once I've finished The Mad Ship!! Edited January 9, 2014 by ~Andrea~
~Andrea~
Room by Emma Donaghue is awesome!! I'm about half way through and it's so gripping and brilliantly read by the readers, especially the one reading for Jack. I've also nearly finished The Mad Ship so should be able to start The Secret History for the reading circle today
Athena
That's great to hear! I have Room on my TBR as well as some of Robin Hobb's books. I hope you enjoy The Secret History .

~Andrea~
Thanks both. I finished The Mad Ship a couple of days ago. It was very good but very long (900 pages) and I did feel it was a bit slow in the middle. I enjoyed it but felt it could have been shorter. I almost think there are just too many characters and too much going on in this story at times. Started The Secret History by Donna Tartt. So far so good.
