julie
Well, I made it home tonite . It turned into quite an ordeal . The knee was much worse than expected so they had to do an extensive amount of work to it . Then they had to put me on iron pills and the Dr had to re-seal the wound as it came partly open again from all the pressure underneath it . Yesterday I began having chest pains and shortness of breath ,so they had to send me for testing for blood clots and heart problems . They did find a minor heart problem that needs a follow -up but I am waiting til I get this knee feeling better . It hurts SO much worse than the first one . Anyhow, just an update. I'm home and all in one piece . Thanks to those of you that left messages . It was very kind of you . I'll check in again after I have some time to regroup . pontalba
Glad you are safely home, Julie! I'm glad that if you were going to have any problem with your heart that at least you were already in the hospital and not having to get there. Sending more healing vibes your way. Take it easy, kiddo!
Athena
I'm glad you are safely home but it's not nice at all your knee hurts so much . I'm glad they discovered the heart problem. I hope you can rest a bit now. Do you have / are you allowed to take, painkillers? I hope you feel better soon .
julie
Yes, definitely good to be back home and in my own bed . Yes, I have pain pills to take so they help a bit . I start therapy Monday but have exercises to do here at home too . Thanks again for all the well wishes ,guys. It means a lot ,

Athena
Julie, I hope you can rest a bit. Are you able to do any reading or is the pain too intense? How long do the doctors expect it will be until you can walk around a bit better?
julie
Thanks very much, Chrissy . Athena I'm allowed to walk now, with a walker . I can't walk without one since I can't put weight on my knee yet, so I have to have something to hold onto . I'll use it about 2 weeks then go to a cane for 4-6 more weeks . I'm trying to read a bit today but it's hard to concentrate much when my knee hurts plus my pain pills make you feel foggy headed . so I'm attempting to read but not sure how much is sinking in . Maybe I should read a Dr Seuss book .I might be able to retain those !
Little Pixie
So glad that you`re home and on the mend. Hope that the heart problem is fixable, or liveable with. Scary having to have more tests, when you`re already feeling bad enough.
julie
Thanks Pixie Yes it was scary ,but when things like that happen so fast you don't have a long time to wait and worry, you just have to do as they say ,so it's easier than scheduling an appointment and waiting . That gives your brain too much time to think of all the possibilities . The specialist didn't seem to feel it was an emergency that I do something immediately ,so I have a bit of time to get this knee on the mend before having to be seen by him. He told me 2 weeks, but I'll probably wait til my knee feels a lot better before taking on any more .
pontalba
Probably a good part of the problem was the stress of the operation. You said that it was worse than expected. It a shock to your system, in general. Even is you are not up to par in two weeks, it's probably be wise to follow through on what the specialist found. Just don't think about it until then. I suspect for the sake of your peace of mind, you might well want to follow through by then.

I don't think I've ever read a Dr Seuss book (or maybe I have, if they were translated. I didn't pay attention to the authors when I was a little child), however I've heard they're great. Can you listen to music perhaps? I hope you feel better soon . Remember we're always here if you want to chat.
