Chrissy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Broerenkerk Cathedral in Zwolle, Netherlands has been transformed from a cathedral to a book shop. They were given permission do long as they did not harm the structure (stained glass windows, pillars etc). This is the result.. Wonderful isn't it? Quote
Marie H Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 It's so beautiful! I think that the two styles of architecture work wonderfully together. Quote
Sernicki Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Wow, now that is what I call a bookshop. Quote
Athena Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 That looks really good! I've never been to Zwolle, it's a bit of a travel away from here. Quote
Eleonora Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Oh, add to the list of the "places I have to visit, absolutely, now!!" It's so wonderful!! Thanks Chrissy. Quote
Angury Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) That's beautiful. I also really like this one, it's very simple but the colours work well together: Edited March 23, 2014 by Angury Quote
LittleW Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Where are they? And what's to be simple about the second one? Quote
Chrissy Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Where are they? And what's to be simple about the second one? We NEED to know!!!! They are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Quote
Angury Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Where are they? And what's to be simple about the second one? Apologies, I should have mentioned. The first one is the Strahov Theological Hall in Prague, and the second is the Codrington Library in Oxford. By simple I was referring to the black and white colours, rather than the bright gold and red seen in the first picture. Quote
LittleW Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Odds are, I visit England somedays. Probably I can visit a library such as this there. If one was anywhere near my place, I'd be their best client and you'd have to drag me out after hours!!! Quote
Virginia Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I'd love to visit the Bodileian Library. Don't know when that's going to happen so until then I'll follow it on Facebook and Flipboard. I love any library that has an intimate and cozy feel about it. Cushy seating, rich colors, filled shelves. Quote
bookmonkey Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I want to visit the Bodleian (sp) too. I first heard of it reading Inspector Morse and have been fascinated by it ever since. Quote
