I think Abbey is the first winner to have been in the dance-off, but not the first in the bottom two.  Alesha was definitely in the bottom two in one week, but there was no dance-off in that series, just the judges scores and the public vote combined, but I don't have the details of bottom two couples from the first two series, so not sure about them.

Interesting .. so possibly, if there'd been no dance-off in place, Abbey may have gone back then .. amazing turn around if so though it's possible that the voters thought her safe that week. That must have been the case for Alesha .. I didn't realise she was ever bottom two

 

I think this is the first year that I was genuinely surprised by the announcement .. though I wasn't sure who would win out of Tom and Rachel.
