karen.d Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) I received an invitation to something called 'World Book Liberation Day' (which is apparently tomorrow) on Facebook. I know 'BookCrossing' exists, but before I liberate a book, has anyone ever participated in this? Does it actually work? I'm just asking this, in case I leave a book somewhere and nothing ever happens to it! I love the idea, but not sure if anyone else will play along! Edited March 20, 2013 by karen.d Quote
bobblybear Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I've never heard of it. As silly as it sounds, I don't like the idea of Book Crossing in case one of my books just gets left, and it's sat there forever neglected on it's own. Quote
Lucybird Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I do bookcrossing but I've had replies from only a minority of the books. Doesn't mean they haven't been picked up though. I know Inver does a lot of bookcrossing too. Quote
bookmonkey Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I've never heard of it. I've heard of bookcrossing, our library sometimes has bookcrossing books people have left. Quote
sophiagia10 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I dont think its a good to leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise. Quote

I didn't think that it was a good idea, as you run the risk of the book never been found by anyone. That';s why, even thought I thought it was an interesting idea at the time, I didn't participate. I couldn't bear that thought of my book being unloved by anyone. Quote
