Lucybird Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Do you use a screen protector for your kindle. If so, what type and are you satisfied with it? I don't, mainly because I have a kindle with buttons rather than touch screen, and I have a case so it didn't seem necessary. Quote
chesilbeach Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I don't use a screen protector either, but like Lucybird, I have a keyboard model, so the screen doesn't get touched much. I do have a case for carrying it around, and it's a zip around one, so that if any of the crumbs from my lunch escape in my bag, they don't get in the kindle, and it also is padded so if I drop it, it has a bit of protection too. Athena Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 I use a cover made by Amazon, you slot in the Kindle and it flips over the screen. Quote
pontalba Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I popped, finally, for the Kindle Fire, and am enjoying it. I do wonder about a virus protector though, what do you guys have on yours? Anything? Quote
muggle not Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I popped, finally, for the Kindle Fire, and am enjoying it. I do wonder about a virus protector though, what do you guys have on yours? Anything? I haven't even thought about a virus protector. I only use my kindle fire for reading and have not had any problems. Anyhow, glad to hear that you have a kindle. I was always a very slow reader when reading hardcover/paperbacks. Now on the kindle I go through books like wildfire. I strongly recommend that you join the library if you don't already belong. Most of my reading I get free from downloading the books from the library. Quote
julie Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I don't have a screen protector for either of my Kindles .Never had a problem with the screen getting damaged . I do have a zipper-case type doohickey I sometimes put it in ,but I usually just toss it in my purse and it's never been damaged so far . I've also never had a Virus protector put on it and never any problems with that either . Quote
Miss Mabel Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Wow! I've gotten a lot of valuable information about a subject close to my heart. I, too, am looking into buying an e-reader. My problem is that I am leaning more towards an i-pad for reading books. More so than an e-reader. Trying to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. What are your experiences with reading/downloading books on an i-pad if any? I figure if I can take an i-pad (thinking of the mini from apple) and read books, I don't need a seperate e-reader. Quote
chesilbeach Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I have an iPad and a Kindle, and the only time I read on the iPad is in bed, and that's only rarely, and not for very long. I had it before I got my Kindle, and although it completely converted me to the ebook, I found I could only read for an hour maximum because of the back lit screen giving me a headache, whereas with the e-ink technology of the Kindle (I have the keyboard model) I can read for hours without any problems. I use my iPad for lots of other functions, but using either iBooks and the Kindle app on it is limited for me. Quote
Talisman Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 It depends how portable you want it to be as well - an Ipad is much bigger and heavier. I am not sure how an Ipad would work in bright light though, when reading outdoors. It depends I guess on what kind of reading you do. Quote
Kell Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I have a leather flip up case that also acts as a stand so I can read hands-free (apart from pressing the "next page" button when I need to). Quote
