That's me set up, nice and simple this year, just me, a TBR shelf and a Kobo, will continue to hold back on the buying as I have done for the past few months, though will no doubt be buying some books for the Kobo.. By the end of this year if I haven't read the books currently on the shelf they will be taken to the charity shop or given away to friends.

Happy new reading year everyone!:readingtwo::smile::readingtwo::smile:

Have a lovely reading year chaliepud!

I was pleasantly surprised to see Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on your list.

I "saw" this book in the catalogue of a pre-loved online book-store, a few days ago, and the title caught my eye - and I ordered it.

What made you pick it up? (Or is it a famous book, and I have proved I live under a rock?)

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure I saw it on a best books list somewhere, it was at the time I was buying a lot of books so I wasn't being too discriminate. Still looks good to me though and I definitely will read it this year, hopefully in the next few months. I know I've seen it on other members TBR lists and wish lists so it is fairly well known. :)

Thanks for popping in, happy new year! :)

That really is a simple plan chaliepud. Are all those books on your list treebooks or a mix of kobo as well?

If i had the power to mess with your mind & move three of your books to the top of your TBR list they'd be Rebecca, I Capture The Castle & The Guernsey Potato Peel one.... Mwahaha !!!!

Happy Reading in 2013 Chaliepud whatever you decide to read :D

Hi VF, all tree books bar one, Petals in the Ashes, I'm trying to not have more than one or two books waiting on my Kobo in case I start to neglect my TBR shelf. At the moment I'm planning on saving the Kobo for reads that are either cheaper or not available as tree books. :)

Happy Reading in 2013, i look forward to hearing your thoughts on your books as i have a lot of the same on my tbr and wishlist :D

Thanks Laura, you too.. :)

Scary KM! Rebecca is definitely one I want to get to soon! Honest! :D

I do have that power, and if I were to abuse it, I'd move two of them to the top, and the Dodie Smith one firmly to the bottom! :giggle: However, I'll be a good girl!

Happy reading 2013, Chalie. :)

Happy reading 2013, Chalie. :)

Now I'm geting very nervous!!!!!! Saying that I read the first page of ICTC and it seemed rather odd, I may now have to read it to settle the argument.. :giggle2:

Hehe - you're safe - I'd never abuse my powers! :giggle2: I do hope you like it. I read it for my Book Club and was definitely in the minority in not enjoying it. :)

I agree with the Potato Peel one. I read that on a recommendation from here and loved it.

I love that plan. I'm tempted to do something similar myself with me remaining tree-books but I suspect I won't be so restrained with my Kobo as you and won't have made a great dent in the paper ones. What colour Kobo did you get in the end?

Hi Andrea, my Kobo is white with the blue back, good choice by Steve as I wouldn't have liked a black one as much, this matches my phone and iPad! I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed reading on it, I've finished a book already on it and downloaded my next, it's so much more comfortable reading in bed with it, but I am going to make myself read at least one tree book in between, at least that's my plan!:readingtwo::smile:

Lucky ladies, I got the pink-backed white Kobo. Not keen on the pink (or the white, really), but I'm going to buy a cover for it anyway so it doesn't matter all that much. Long as I have a functioning e-reader I am happy! :D

2013: TO BE READ

Allende, Isabel – The House of the Spirits

Bradshaw, John – In Defence of Dogs

Du Maurier, Daphne – Rebecca

I have these on my TBR pile too, I have a feeling all of these will be great reads!

Ellis, Shaun – Wolf Within: How I Learned to Talk Dog

Phew, you do have some wolf/dog titles left to read... :D

Haig, Matt – The Last Family in England

This is a great doggy book, I really hope you enjoy it. Not as good as Enzo, and not like Marley, but really good anyways. Probably in my top 5 doggy books!

Juster, Norton – The Phantom Tollbooth

I've started this a few times and it's really great, but I've never finished, for a few reasons... Just haven't had the time, I guess. But that's my fault, not the books!

Shafer, Mary Ann – The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society

Solomons, Natasha – Mr Rosenblum’s List

These are really great, I dare say you shall like them :)

What on earth is this Kobo people keep talking about? Is it like a Kindle?

Oh, I've been meaning to tell you: due to not having the finances this year and a few other things, Kylie and I won't be visiting England after all this year... :( So we won't be able to meet you and I won't be able to come and give Obi a real big cuddle, as was planned, but I really hope that we will make it soon, some other time, and can maybe meet you then :)

I hope you have a great year in 2013, re: reading and other aspects of your life, too! :friends3:
