Now that's my kind of logic
.
Two minds but with a single thought : Must buy more books ! Must invent ever more imaginative loopholes to justify book purchases !

What with the film coming out, reading the reviews of @ian and my husband stating he wanted to do a re-read (and what with him being one of the slowest readers in the world so I need to get in front of him), I decided to start a Dark Tower re-read, starting with the short story The Little Sisters of Eluria in Everything's Eventual and now The Gunslinger. It could take me some time, and now it means I've technically got 3 books on the go. That's this one, my library book and the Bill Bryson Short history of Everything book that I'm reading on the kindle in work at lunchtime - so far unsuccessfully, but I am starting to push myself to read that rather than t'internet.
How`s the ` must not get more library books` thing going ?

I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with reading books
. I hope it gets better soon.
Thank you.
How are your books struggles coming along ?

The first few stories were standalone Christmas stories, but at one point, they start fitting into the overall timeline, so I'd suggest reading them in order, just to be on the safe side and avoid spoilers and confusion!
Thank you.
So, I hear you saying that I should treat myself to the rest of the books so I can safely read the short stories in the book ?

Woot! I just LOVE Helene Hanff. Letter from New York is simply lovely, I'm glad you're enjoying it.
I think it was your cheerleading which made me get them ? I read 84 Charing Cross Road when I was a teenager, but had quite forgotten about her since then.
They are such great reads ; you feel like she`s sitting across from you, telling you about her day. Fantastic.
SpoilerAnd the sheepdog, Bentley, who gets rescued and is sooo depressed - and then the bit when he gives her his paw !! *sniff*

I`m struggling a bit with books atm ; I only managed 4 books last month ( usually, I average 17 - and in January, managed one a day ). I`ve just felt bleah.
Anyway, I cheered myself up last night by reading a few chapters of Helene Hanff - Letter from New York. She writes so tenderly of her neighbours ( including the canines ) , it`s a lovely snuggly read.

Ooh, your holiday plans sound great ! Have a wonderful time.

I'm currently reading My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella. Only 42 pages in, but I'm really enjoying it!
I was reading it the other night and I got to page 12 and there was a thing that made me laugh so hard
I feared I was going to wake up the neighbors
That looks really good. Into the `buy at some point` list it goes.

Couldn't tell you about the stories, but you definitely need to read the books in order.
Good to know.

The Long and the short of it by Jodi Taylor -novellas and short stories, now in one paperback, hooray.
Do you know if they need to be read in order ? I've read the first 3 books, but am holding off on reading my copy of the shorties, in case there are major spoilers.

Ooh, great graphs.
Those are really fun to look at, and see your reading represented pictorially.

I laughed out loud when I read this
.
I'm totally guilty of thinking similar things though
.
I must stop thinking of these loopholes ! There will always be books to buy and I don`t need to buy them all in one go. However....
Another loophole I favour, is ` That`s a really good price and it`s out of print, so I should get it now while it`s still available`.

Brilliant
!!
And once I`d got enough books to qualify for the free P&P, I kept buying, cos then it was ` buy more books with free postage ! Yay ! `

Those books look fantastic.
I hope things improve for your Nan ; it sounds really upsetting for everyone.

I think this is the best book-buying excuse I've seen
hope you enjoy your new books!
Thanks.
Feel free to use the excuse ; there're plenty where that came from.

I hope you enjoy all of your new books and the music
.
Thank you.
I just wanted the Coldplay CD, but then in order to get free p&p, I was ` forced` to order some books too.

Mindscape, starring the always excellent Mark Strong. A psychological thriller with a twist - he plays a 'memory detective', who goes into people's minds to see what really happened in a crime. I guessed some of what was really going on, but thought it was still worth seeing.

I know what you mean, I would, too! And as it was a cheap copy, there's no harm done
'Tis true.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Most of it was interesting, but some chapters didn't grab me as much as others.
I hope your mojo comes back soon.....I lost mine for a little while earlier in the year, and it's not nice. It's a strange feeling to not want to read.
Maybe our minds need to subconsciously process everything we've read and catalogue stuff. Or maybe our brains are just full up.

Well I hope you enjoy them both, and it's just me who didn't like the fourth novel
Thanks.
Even if Book 4 is really awful, I think I`d want to read it anyway, to complete the series.

That's true, I didn't like the book. To the extent that I didn't remember that book even existing, and thinking you were talking about the third book in the series, which I loved. And wondering why you thought I didn't like that book. 😀
I can't remember what it was about the book, but I definitely didn't like it. But I hope you will 😊
Hmm, I ordered Bridget Jones` Baby ( the book) a couple of days ago ( it was really cheap, and I needed to add something to the order list to get free P&P ). I still have Book 3 to read as well .

I'm sorry to hear you've not been feeling well
. It's nice you read some newspapers though. I hope you enjoy the Batya Gur book
.
I'm totally excited for it
. I'll be sure to post some pictures when it's done
. It'll probably take a while though. I intend to go through almost everything
. Though I'll probably keep a lot of shelves the same in terms of which books fit next to which other books or which books go at the top and bottom and in the middle (I have reasons!). I'm quite excited about it
.
Thank you.
Ooh, it sounds really satisfying, that idea of going through all your books.

I`m looking forward to seeing ep 2 this week. I quite liked the first ep ; it did make me think I`ll get the other books ( I read Book 1 ) once the first season is done. Probably.
