  1. Well Sofia, I wasn't sure about it at first, but after I walked the dogs (10am) I sat down for a quick read...and I just finished it, so much for a tidy house!!! I really enjoyed it, her books are so easy to read. So, to keep my mojo going I think I'll either read The Chocolate Run or The Woman He Loved Before next! Hope you are able to read more today..
  2. Get to it Ruth, you won't regret it! I rarely recommend a book this highly so it must be very very good!!
  3. I know the feeling Sofia, my mood is a bit low at the mo so I'm finding it hard to find books that a, don't depress me further and b, can transport me to another place... I've got two books on the go at the moment, The Report by Jessica Francis Kane, which is interesting but sad and Marshmallows for Breakfast by Dorothy Koomson which I hope will bring a little light relief! I hope your mojo gets a kick start soon.
  4. On a overcast evening in early March, after the weather forecast, a television special about the tragedy at Bethnal Green begins. The Report - A Novel (Jessica Francis Kane)
  5. They were lovely, hopefully they'll go far! Now watching Bear's Wild Weekend with Miranda...
  6. Gave up on Looking for Alaska, far too much teenage lust and angst for me! Started The Report (Jessica Francis Kane), very interesting so far..
  7. Not a lot, but this was pretty impressive.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyRFEtdLIHA Such a shy guy and so sweet when Simon suggested that he go through to the next round without Charlotte..
  8. Britain's Got Talent!
  9. It's amazing isn't it, equality is such a simple thing really but people make it so so difficult...
  10. Onto the last 50 pages of A Certain Slant of Light, I'm not getting much reading done at the moment, as most of my reading is done at bedtime and lately I've been falling asleep after only a few pages, frustrating!!
  11. I've been following this on the news and it's incredulous that he wasn't even questioned, I do hope the FBI decide to investigate, in fact they'll have to as it's awful to think what might happen as a result of the demonstrations that are planned, all because the police decided not to interview him.. the 'Stand your ground' rule needs some serious re thinking!
  12. Hi Laia, if you have a Kindle, or a Kindle app on your computer or phone you can usually download the first chapter for free, then you can see if you would be able to read it. Hope hat helps, and welcome to the forum!
  13. Houseboat, with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren, very charming, I haven't watched an old movie for years and I rather enjoyed it!
  14. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the 1001 books list, I'm not brave enough to join that challenge, I need smaller milestones to achieve, namely getting my TBR pile in check! I would love to visit Canada sometime soon, a good friend of mine is from Toronto and says it is a great place to visit.
  15. I'll be interested to hear what you think of this when you've read it Tunn, it's another one on my TBR pile and I'll be getting to it in the next couple of months.
  16. Try this Brian, there may be a book bank nearer than you think.. http://www.bhf.org.uk/about-us/where-we-are/the-bhf-map.aspx Probably won't work for you Sofia!
  17. We have a few near us, usually British Heart Foundation, they are either at recycling centres or in supermarket car parks if that's any help.. :-))
  18. Fortnightly here too, week one is the black everyday rubbish bin, week two is the green recycling one (glass, paper, cardboard, plastic). Week two is also garden rubbish for which we pay an annual subscription. There is also a weekly collection for the food bin (ALL food leftovers incl bones). I don't use this one though as between my dogs and the compost heap (and the fact that we eat very little meat) there is never enough to make it worth it doing. My only bugbear is that they collect so early, 6.20am! I think we must be the first road on the round, especially not funny on recycling week as by the noise of the glass smashing you'd think we are a road of alcoholics!!!
  19. Ah, it looks like the ones I was looking at were new covers so the original ones are still available, well some of them at least, I noticed on amazon that book 7 is over £20 but when the time comes I may be able to order it from the book shop. Thanks for the info Kylie! :-))
  20. My son has read the first one but I haven't so I'll get to that soon, was the film close to the book or was it very different? I'm trying my hardest not to buy any many books at the moment, but the second book is at the top of my wish list and the third isn't due out until late April here. I'll keep everything crossed for another movie. I don't think it was released at the cinema over here, the first I saw of it was on Sky Movies.
  21. I have mine down to 48 which I am really pleased about, a few of those I will probably never read but I like to keep a varied collection to choose from...
  22. Tomorrow, when the war began... Was pretty good, not sure if they are making a movie of the second book yet, I need to do some digging. In the meantime I'll pop the second (and third) books onto my wish list!
  23. Starting A Certain Slant of Light (Laura Whitcomb)....
  24. Breaking Dawn Pt 1... Not amazing but glad we saw it.
