Nearly all my books come from the library, my budget hardly ever stretches to even charity shop prices. As to hardback vs paperback, I usually prefer hardback. I find them easier to read in bed (lying on my side they don't fall on face). I also like to prop them open and knit while I read, which I find harder to do with paperbacks. But I definitely prefer paperbacks in the bath. Much lighter and easier to handle.

Has anyone read The Map of True Places by Brunonia Barry? I'm having trouble getting into it and wondering if I should bother continuing.
Lending or borrowing books.

As most of the books I own are non fiction I'm hardly ever asked to lend them. I'd only lend to my dad and one friend who I know would give them back in good condition. I'd never lend to my sister. She doesn't return anything she borrows; lent her an expensive tape recorder once and she denies she even borrowed it.
