  1. sorry I totally forget I had already mentioned it. Old age is setting in.
  2. In last months copy of The Herald, I found out about a new British author called Melissa Davies. Name of the book is "The Song of The Mermaid" I initially bought it for my teenage daughter who absolutely loved it but I have read it now also and got to say it is a corker of a read.It is about a woman called Stef who is a children's author, who lives near Ashford in Kent. She has little to do with her aunt but when her aunt who lives in Zennor, Cornwall. When her aunt has an accident and is pretty much wheel chair bound, Stef at the behest of her mum, goes to live with her for a few weeks. Her aunt doesn't take kindly to the help but Stef doesn't let that phase her and while there she explores Zennor and learns a great deal about her family past and a two hundred year old mystery which involved the disappearence of her relative. As Zennor is a small place (population for real is under 250 I checked on wiki), things are kept hush hush. Stef is a bit like a modern day Nancy Drew intent on flushing out the villians and discovering the slightly spooky goings on in the fog. it's a very good book and has some colourful characters but it captures Cornwall very well, specifically some of the real locations like St Senara. The author is now working on a new book which is set closer to home in the New Forest area. Hopefully it will be as good as this and as keenly priced on Kindle.
  3. This was shown in our local newspaper along with a mention about the author and her plans on writing a new book set in Lyndhurst. I like reading about stuff closer so got it off Amazon. I'm mid way through it now and finding it very intriguing. It is about a young woman called Stef who is an author and goes to live with her Aunt in Zennor, Cornwall because she's had an accident. Stef hopes to find inspiration there in her Aunt's quaint old cottage but instead bites off more than she can chew when she's confronted by some suspicious locals and something that happened to one of her relatives back in the early 18th century. Highly recommended but aimed I think at teens and some young adults might like it too.
