I remember there was a lake? A necklace that was cursed and was passed down possibly? There were two clans and one of the woman in the prologue cursed the man unless they find true love or something along that that, they'd be miserable and die alone or something. Wife that weren't the one killed? Possibility H is having hard time saying " I love you" or have feeling of love? I also remember there was a lake, but could be mixing with another book. I remember the setting was in Scottland/highlands, not regency English.
