I agree about The Order of the Phoenix - the book almost put me to sleep - but the film was enjoyable.

Or not.
Can't think of any myself - though I've heard plenty of people say that about The African Queen (I don't agree though).
Have you watched a film which was more enjoyable than reading the book?

I've come down with a flu so I should have plenty of time to read over the next days. I'm half way through Disordered Minds by Minette Walters (which I'm really enjoying so far) and then it's time for Dangerous Liaisons.

Three of the books I ordered were cancelled - as they're having trouble importing them.
So, I'll have to wait a while before I read Dangerous Liaisons, The Lions of Al-Rassan and Kafka on The Shore.
Meanwhile I'm enjoying Villette immensely - and am pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to read, understand and get into (given my apprehension about classics).

Watched Hanna a couple of nights ago and really liked it.
I was quite mesmerised by Saoirse Ronan.
And watched The African Queen last night.
It was a delight watching Allnut and Rose come to life!
I loved the book - and the film seemed to have picked all the best bits and put it together wonderfully.

I must have picked one of her less popular books to start with - The Black Tower.
It was dull.
(Will I ever enjoy a murder-mystery which is not Christie?)

Have been a bit woolly in the head, these last couple of weeks, and couldn't get started on Love In The Times Of Cholera - as I'd planned.
Started instead on The Black Tower by P.D James and hoped that a crackling crime novel would engage me.
No luck.
It was my first PD James. It read so dull - I couldn't engage with the plot or the characters - and I really didn't care who the murderer was and why the murders happened.
I didn't do it justice at all. And it's made me not want to pick up another book by her.
Not sure if I should read till my head clears - but have picked up My Side Of The Mountain by Jean Craighead George for a bit of bed-side reading.
It's a short YA read - and I hope I can enjoy it.

Watched The Crow last night.
And considering the theme of the film, I was just a bit spooked when my partner told me that Brandon Lee died on the sets while shooting it.
What a tragedy - such a beautiful boy too.

I think my answers were more in line of - who could have prevented the crime - rather than who I blame.
And that's why the "wife" is the first one for me, and the assassin the last one.
