  1. I've come down with a flu so I should have plenty of time to read over the next days. I'm half way through Disordered Minds by Minette Walters (which I'm really enjoying so far) and then it's time for Dangerous Liaisons.

Ah take plenty of fluids and rest frankie - hope you feel better soon  :friends0:

Three of the books I ordered were cancelled - as they're having trouble importing them.

So, I'll have to wait a while before I read Dangerous Liaisons, The Lions of Al-Rassan and Kafka on The Shore

Meanwhile I'm enjoying Villette immensely - and am pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to read, understand and get into (given my apprehension about classics).

  2. Watched Hanna a couple of nights ago and really liked it.

I was quite mesmerised by Saoirse Ronan.

And watched The African Queen last night.

It was a delight watching Allnut and Rose come to life!

I loved the book - and the film seemed to have picked all the best bits and put it together wonderfully.

  3. P.S. How do you put "enter's / new lines" after a quote? What I used to do (pressing enter), doesn't seem to work anymore.

    Athena,

Click on the first toggle button (it says "BBCode Mode").

You can press enter here, and start typing, and revert to the normal mode again, by pressing the button again.

A little round-about, but seems to work.

  4. Have been a bit woolly in the head, these last couple of weeks, and couldn't get started on Love In The Times Of Cholera - as I'd planned.

Started instead on The Black Tower by P.D James and hoped that a crackling crime novel would engage me.

    No luck.

It was my first PD James. It read so dull - I couldn't engage with the plot or the characters - and I really didn't care who the murderer was and why the murders happened.

I didn't do it justice at all. And it's made me not want to pick up another book by her.

Not sure if I should read till my head clears - but have picked up My Side Of The Mountain by Jean Craighead George for a bit of bed-side reading.

It's a short YA read - and I hope I can enjoy it.

  5. Lots of films the last couple of days-

    Fast Five

The Beauty and The Beast (first film with the little one)

The Body In The Library (adaptation of Christie's novel)

    Drive

    Drive was particularly impressive.

The silences and the soundtrack. Wow.
