  1. I earlier forgot to add that I also managed to complete Belle Prater's Boy by Ruth White. It was a coming-of-age story of two cousins - very-well written - and one of my best reads this year.
  2. minx (last one I promise! )
  3. Over the last few days, I managed to (finally!) complete Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha. Even though I could appreciate it for it was, the writing-style was extremely distracting. Also completed the interesting YA-book: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, and the delightfully silly Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence A'ooh, that's rude'er. Have started on E.Nesbit's The Railway Children, which I'm enjoying!
  4. How wonderful Janet! Did you find any of the books "ahead of their time" ?
  5. This is my song for the day - a recording by poppy - http://soundcloud.co...305844/birdsong
  6. ewe (sorry chesilbeach - we used play this game as children, constantly trying to corner the other person with a single alphabet - so that was my silly self expressing itself)
  7. Oh no! First, you lot get me to buy more books than I normally do, and now its DVDs! This site should come with a warning at registration
  8. My friends used to watch it all the time when it ran here a few years ago (Is it still running?) I've never owned a television set though - so missed this. (I even caught Friends on DVD - a long time after it stopped running - ) I'm tempted to get the Gilmore Girls DVD now!
  9. Actually the sequel is called Scarlett, and is written by Alexandra Ripley - and poppy is right, it is best skipped. Not very sure what the Gone With The Wind - Volume II shown in your image is! It however looks like the original book was split into two volumes in your edition - in which case you should continue with the second volume and finish the story.
  10. I can't get myself to read them - I find them dreadfully tedious and "on-a-mission-to-dish-out-wisdom" which instantly puts me off. I find myself more inspired by reading fiction, and picking out bits of wisdom, life-lessons and truths which are intertwined in the narrative. These gems have a way of influencing me more than an out-and-out self-help book.
  11. Sounds like an interesting show! Thank you for replying frankie
  12. Wow. That is a lot of work. Michele, thank you for answering in so much detail and helping us understand what actually happens behind the scenes. And Jamie Scott has nice ring to it.
