Hello Emily
And welcome!
-
Wonderful frankie!
I hope you read many more and enjoy them as well - and find them worthy enough of being on the list
(I have my eyes on quite a few of your top reads, and hope to read them soon)
-
Ah I just saw your lovely lovely stamps - and I love the cover of I, Coriander - gorgeous!
Your blog is a visual treat Janet.
And -
Hope your cold disappears soon dear Janet

A little over half way through Wuthering Heights.
I don't like it at all. The violence and the ugliness in it is getting me down.
-
What vivid and mesmerising descriptions she weaves poppy!
Which other books of hers would you recommend?
I'd love to read more!
-
A dismal 3.
And AARGH.
The first question.
Actually the answer.
I couldn't get myself to complete his Birdsong and to think him writing a Jeeves and Wooster book makes me miserable.
-
poppy - Glad you're enjoying it. I think I'll try and get myself a copy sometime this year.
As to what Athena has mentioned, did you know the series is incomplete?
Do you know if it is incomplete as The Lord Of The Rings would have been if it had stopped at The Two Towers?
Or does it end in a more complete way and the new books would just add-on and take things forward?

tick
slap
Should remember not to be hysterical around you poppy
-
pontalba and lucybird, thank you
How amazing that you work at a Nursery lucybird - I don't know how you manage
(I have to dig deep into dormant sources of energy and creativity to keep up with my one)
-
What did you think of it bree?
Sorry I took so long to answer this poppy.
Capote - I could understand why Hoffman won the Oscar - but the film really didn't engage much with me emotionally.
(I think I feel this way about quite a few Oscar-winners - the films seem a bit too made-for-perfection and lacking some passion and rawness - if you know what I mean!)
-
And I watched From Hell a few nights ago.
Quite liked it.
-
Snow and ice and rains all done here. (I think)
The sun has been shining most generously and gloriously on us
-
I hope you enjoy The Hobbit Athena.
It's one of my all-time-favourites and I usually re-read it once every year
-
poppy, how is A Game of Thrones going?
Hope you're enjoying it
-
and I really didn't like Death Comes to Pemberley (for the most part it was just a re-telling of Pride and Prejudice!)...
That seals it then frankie.
I won't be picking up a PD James any time soon

Thank you Chrissy and Athena
Mummy (that's what I call her) is recovering well
Glad you both had lovely weekends.
-
Have completed Villette by Charlotte Bronte - and possibly liked it even a bit more than I did Jane Eyre.
Also read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier - and Manderley is the only fictional house after Tara - that I've loved and was mesmerised by. What a brilliant written book! (I'm just a bit in love with Daphne du Maurier )

I love your summaries, bree! I hope March will bring just as much, if not more, fun reading for you .
I love your monthly round-ups too.
Maybe you should avoid books with the word 'Black' in the title?!
I usually find I enjoy most of the books I read. It helps that I am pretty much into every genre (but romance - i.e. mills and boon)
p.s. Love your monthly summaries too!
Thank you - it's about the most creative I get (making the summaries I mean)
And Janet - now that you've pointed that out - I'm a bit nervous about The Black Dahlia sitting unread on my shelf
Hi Bree
Trying to get around to visit some book threads here. I think your monthly book collage of covers is a terrific idea, and I like how you sum up the month with the numbers of specific books types . Very organized .
Now a little off topic, but I was perusing the pictures of members in the other thread, and I must say you are STUNNINGLY beautiful . My gosh, you should be a model if you aren't already .
Gorgeous .
Oh dear thank you julie.
But I must I admit - I did post it knowing very well that it was a good picture

Have been a bit more busy than usual these last few days.
My partner's dear mother underwent a surgery - and it was a stressful time - more so as we couldn't go down to meet her.
Thankfully she's home now and recovering well.
The little one is set to start pre-school in a few days time - it'll be the first time since she was born that we'll be away from each other for five hours each day!
(I keep telling myself that it'll be good for both of us)

starting Rebecca
I hope you enjoy Rebecca - it's one of my favourites.
I started with Rebecca as well Sofia - a couple of days ago.
Half way through now.
I'm so in love with how it's written - and it's turning out to be brilliant - I hope the second half carries on in the same vein.
I completely understand why its a favourite with you Janet
-
Ooh, I'll be interested to read your thoughts on that one, bree
Ah Karsa - I didn't proceed with it.
I usually read before I sleep - and the book required me to be more wide awake to engage with it - so have put it off for now!
-
Completed Charlotte Bronte's Villette last night - and it's easily one of my favourite classics.
What am amazing book!
Have picked up The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper to read next.
The last film you saw - 2013

Really liked it.
