Dr Bill

My name is Bill. I live in Nottinghamshire and am a retired GP. I am married with 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

I read non-fiction mostly, particularly history and more particularly bigraphy, especially public figures such as royalty and politicians.

I also enjoy some historical fiction, especially the Aubrey/Maturin novels of Patrick O'Brain and the Shardlake novels of C.J.Sansom.

I don't get on with many modern fiction writers. I prefer classic literature and am currently working my way through the works of Charles Dickens. I have read the Sherlock Holmes stories a number of times. I recently read Brideshead Revisited which is one of the best books I have read in a long time. For a lighter read I like Agatha Christie.

My other interests include golf, fly-fishing and gardening. I am trying to learn to play classical guitar. I love classical music especially rennaissance and baroque sacred music. I am also fond of opera.

Like cricket and rugby, hate football.
