  1. Project Cain by Geoffrey Girard 4/5 About the book Project Cain Fifteen-year-old Jeff Jacobson learns that not only was he cloned from infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer's blood as part of a top-secret government experiment, but there are other clones like him and he is the only one who can track them down before it is too late. My Thoughts So this is my first book and first review of the year and wow is it off to a good start! There is so much to say about this book, the idea is insane but well thought out, the author backs up his ideas with evidence of previous American conspiracy theories, its horrifying to read yet it could also be so close to hidden truths. The book also contains a ton of very interesting information on some of the most violent convicted serial killers, some of this information can be a bit tough to swallow, whilst the book has an age of limit 14yrs+ i really think it should be 16+ whilst its not actually graphic at any point in the book it does touch on subjects I wouldn't have been allowed to read about at 14. Whilst i really enjoyed this book and was totally gripped by the pictures and info of the serial killers and the story line I have to admit I found no qualities or dimensions to the main character at all, I get that he was a 15 year old boy but seriously I cant bare it when an author uses WTF or YOLO or 'gonna' its just annoying to see that in a novel, its not a txt message. Jeff, the main character personally for me doesn't have many qualities, he has moments where I think he shines, like the dreams and figuring out his dads notes but other than that he spends a lot of time moaning. The book couldnt have been without him as he literally carries it but he really ought to have been much more built up, more three dimensional and stronger. All in all though its totally worth the read. This author is crazy but good!

  7. It really was a good book, nothing like what i had expected which was a real surprise! Definitely worth the read, id of probably enjoyed it more and given it a 4/5 had it been a different time of year, it was a bit depressing!
  8. Frankinstein/The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley 3/5 About the book (Amazon) Begun when the author was only eighteen and conceived from a nightmare, Frankenstein is the deeply disturbing story of a monstrous creation which has terrified and chilled readers since its first publication in 1818. The novel has thus seared its way into the popular imagination while establishing itself as one of the pioneering works of modern science fiction. My Thoughts. So i've heard a lot about Frankenstein, we all know the moaning green monstrous man that has bolts in his neck and the top of his head sewed on right? Wrong! This book is nothing like the film, i was completely surprised to find that firstly the monster isn't even called Frankenstein, that was his creator but the monster him self is never referred to by that name, secondly he isn't green and neither is he described as the figure we are all familiar with. Very surprising! Despite the 3/5 i did really enjoy this book, the problem i found was probably more so the time of year that i've read it. Its a very depressing read, all throughout the character is mostly in a state of devastation, regret and in an ill state of mind. His depression got a tiny bit tedious to read when its nearly christmas and supposed to be a happy festive time, because it was pretty much relentless. There wasnt exactly a happy ending either. I read a 1900's version of the book and have to say i really love the elaborate style of writing, whilst it took longer to read i do occasionally enjoy a book that has some age about it. All in all a good read but not one for such a festive time of year
  9. City of lost souls by Cassandra Clare About the book (Amazon) Clary and the Shadowhunters struggle to piece together their shattered world after a betrayal by one of their own leaves them reeling. My Thoughts This is the 5th book in the Mortal Instruments series and again another great installment. There's so much going on in this book, the relationships between most each of the couples are growing and moving forward but for others its breaking down, the battle against Sebastian is still raging, Camille jeopardizes the relationship between Alec and Magnus, the Seelie Queen betrays the clave, angels and demons rise and Clary as always is still putting herself in the line of fire. I really enjoyed this book, its at a faster pace again compared to The City of fallen angels and the intensity is all set up for what i believe is the last installment next year.
  10. Yes i thought it fell short too. Ah great maybe ill get that on the to be read list for next year!
  11. Awesome and fab review, so glad you enjoyed it!
  12. Wow now that's more like it! As always a fab review It sounds like you found a little gem there. How long is it? Just out of interest.
  13. This book sounded so promising, Its such a shame all that potential was lost. However i do still like the sound of it. I like supernatural, if its done well and i love Victorian England though im not sure if its worth the read for a 5/10! I love the front cover though!
  14. Hahaha but surely you must be more tempted by the reviews now? Timstar did you think the sequels were better than Retribution falls?
  15. I believe it was "Retribution Falls is okay. It's kind of like Firefly, but with planes instead of spaceships. I didn't find it so compelling that I needed to go out and buy the sequel, though "
  16. Ooo that sounds like heaven, i cant wait to hear all about it, i hope you have a fantastic time
  17. I think its fab that your a good Samaritan I too will always help someone in trouble but im cautious if its a man and im alone, you can never be too careful sadly. But ive helped people in the past who have fallen, one old man came off his mobility scooter and got detached from his oxygen, another collapsed in a heat wave, ill always most certainly stop if i see an animal on the road, i was very well known at work for stopping traffic outside after a seagull had its wing run over by a bus i marched right out there and scooped him up regardless of his snappy attitude, i couldn't leave him to suffer that would just be heartless.
  18. Fab review, so tempted to add it to mount tbr About Retribution Falls, Karsa I believe you didn I rate it much? I was planning on reading that one too however I got mixed reviews and was slightly put off?
  19. Yes defiantly one for christmas
  20. Yes try not to read them yet, i dont think they contain spoilers but im not overly sure!
  21. Fab review Ive had this one on my tbr pile for a while so i'll defiantly move it up the list!
  22. Yeh i totally pushed everything aside to read them all at once, its been worth it but im also looking forward to reading something new now
  23. Thanks I totally agree, i think i prefer Infernal Devices, however i am really excited to read the big finale in book 6 of The Mortal Instruments. I wonder if there will be a new series bought out after!
  24. Aww yay, im so glad your enjoying id have felt bad if you didn't considering my gleaming reviews
  25. How did you like Slaughterhouse 5? I read it this year too though i didnt really see why people were saying how brilliant it was. I thought it was ok but nothing more really. Also how did you find Great Expectations? I want to start reading more of the classics but i'm not sure if i'll get on with them. Was it difficult to read?
