  1. Well...... At 17/18 I ATTEMPTED (with not so good results) to do my Alevel English literature, and as a class we had to read "The Dubliners" by James Joyce, initially I thought "Oh I aren't going to enjoy it" but in actual fact, if I'd not had to study it, I wouldn't have read it, and I found I really liked it. I'm not saying I'm going to go and buy his whole collection because that'd be a lie, but I did find that I really enjoyed it. I loved all the short stories. Just a shame I failed
  2. Is noise allowed? The TV or the children? It has to be quiet otherwise I'll be listening to the other sounds I can hear Indoors or out? Morning or Evening? Tend to read inside but outside I suppose would be nice Do you read on sofa or do you prefer to snuggle in bed with a good read? My bed Is a cuppa close to hand? Do you feast while you read? No, I drink coke but nothing else Does everything have to be just so? yes the pillows have to be just right and I have to feel 100% comfy!
  3. I think we get involved because although the characters are the important factors in the story and fictional, the person writing from those characters viewpoints is human and one of us so obviously those feelings are going to be evoked when reading the books. I get involved, with particular characters and I share their qualities and traits. Often when I've finished a book, particular characters stay with me for ages. I do enjoy reading and get stuck in.
  4. PS I love you. I loved the book and could easily rate it as one of my favourite books, it evoked so many different emotions but the film, NAH! They changed so many bits of it and the trouble was, was that I went with two friends that hadn't read the book, so they were very passive and said the film was wonderful, I on the other hand was so angry at how bad it had been made!
