  1. I've managed to read the first 2 Wallander novels this week Faceless Killers & The dogs of Riga by Henning Mankell. Read both books in 4 days. Found them both very good and love the fact they are set in Sweden. Today I have started The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel kay It's the first book of his I am reading and although am only 50 pages in I am hooked. Thank to Karsa Orlong for the recommendation

  2. I started with Tigana, and loved it, although - if I was going to recommend one - I'd definitely say The Lions of Al-Rassan, as it's one of my all-time favourite books.

Thanks for the suggestion and after now reading the reviews and the 'Look Inside' content on amazon I have ordered a copy

  3. I finished reading A Feast for Crows by George RR Martin at the weekend. I found it the worst in the series so far. Not much really seemed to go on until the last few pages.

Am now reading The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson am half way through part 1 and am finding it an amazing start to a new series. As always with the big fantasy series it takes some time to remember all the characters.

  4. I have just started A Feast for Crows by George RR Martin I'm a third way through and finding it a bit boring. Not really much happening and am missing the characters from the previous books.

Before I started this I read Mistborn Bk1 - The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson a book I loved. Great story with great charcters and loved the unusual powers they had. Have ordered the rest of series.

  5. I have just finished A Storm of Swords - Blood & Gold and having been disappointed in the first part of the book I was totally hooked on this one. Gripped me start to finish. So many twists. Brilliant.

Have now started book one of the Mistborn trilogy The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson and am 1/4 way through and am finding it good although the use of the powers took some working out.

  6. I finished Knots & Crosses by Ian Rankin in 24 hrs. Was a quick read for me and felt it could have been more detailed. Especially the story with the brother. Really felt that needed a better ending.

Does the series get any better? Is it worth sticking with?

I'm now reading Every Dead thing by John Connolly. 50 pages in and its great. Although a disturbing start.

  7. A real classic :cool::)

I finished The Hanging Shed. It was okay, a bit like a Scottish version of Jack Reacher, but I got fed up with things being described as 'wee' or characters saying "ah ken, ah ken"

Now onto the second Dresden Files book, Fool Moon.

Did you read Storm Front first? If so was is it good? I keep looking at starting this series but have been unsure.

  8. The Killing Floor :)

Although, tbh, I don't think it really matters what order they're read in as they're all self-contained stories (although 61 Hours and Worth Dying For are probably best read one after the other).

Thanks Karsa am now going to look on eBay :)

  9. I have never read any of his books but I am going to buy the first book to the Jack Reacher series soon.I have heard they are really good so I look forward to reading them.

Same here. I've never read any of his books but am wanting to read something new. Which is book one?

And although not read the books I'm not a Tom Cruise fan either so hope he doesn't ruin the film you all lol
