  1. It is a lot but it's not a race as such. It's just something that I thought would be interesting to keep track of. Plus it will be interesting to see how long it takes me and how many books it will take me to reach that figure.
  2. The Ultimate Teen Book Guide 2010 Rather than list all 750+ books featured on this list and then crossing them off as I go I've decided to only list them once I've actually read them. Books Read Harry Potter Series - J K Rowling (7 books)

  5. Sorry for bringing this thread out of the archives, I can't believe no one has posted in it in over a year, but after watching the Season 3 finale last night I just had to comment somewhere and I figured it was better doing so here rather than in a new thread. What a fantastic episode and a great way to end the season. All I can say is I am so glad the show has been picked up for a fourth season!

  7. Hello and welcome to Simply K's book log, aptly named Simply Books. I will be using this thread to keep track of the books I've read, the books I want to read and any challenges I participate in. I have three main goals for the foreseeable future... To read a minimum of 100 books per year. To read 1,000,000 pages. To read all the books listed in The Ultimate Teen Book Guide 2010. Please note that all three of these challenges started May 1, 2011 and other than the first one there are no time constraints. So, without further ado, let the reading commence.
  8. I quite often read reviews on Amazon but I try not to let the star ratings have any influence on me mainly because you can miss out on some really great reads otherwise. I do like to read what people have written though just to get a general sense of the style of writing used, but to be honest I'm more interested in the synopsis.
  9. It's so weird that I've come across this thread because I'm reading a book where one of the main characters is call Aoife. I had no idea whatsoever how to pronounce it, but luckily the character herself corrects another character with the pronunciation of it on page 4, which was great for me and a smart move for the author! It's pronounced Eee-fa for anyone interested.
  10. A nice cup of tea and to be honest it's about the only thing I do drink. You just can't beat it.
  11. I had a day off work today so spent the afternoon reading. I'm about half way through Feels like Maybe by Claire Allan.
  12. It doesn't matter to me whether a book is a first edition or not and to be honest with you it's not something that I've even thought about before.
  13. I've found they update their free/cheap books on a fairly regular basis and have gotten into the habit of checking them on an almost weekly basis. I've managed to pick up a few freebies and bargains along the way.
  14. Now that I've finished re-reading the Harry Potter books I'm now re-watching the movies. I watched the first one, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, last night. They all look so young!
  15. I've finally come to the end of my Harry Potter re-read and I'm now trying to figure out what series to read next. In the meantime I'm in the middle of reading Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey.
  16. The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane. - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J K Rowling
  17. I buy books both in store and online, however I probably buy the majority of my books online. When I buy books from Amazon I tend to buy numerous books at once, sometimes up to 10 at a time, whereas when buying in store I might only buy one or two at a time. I do love browsing in store and can spend hours doing so, but for me online is cheaper and more convenient so that's my overall preference.
  18. I'm currently using a small metal K, bought from Waterstones, that slides over the top of the page.
  19. I'm originally from England but currently living in Scotland.
  20. Kylie, even though I could quite happily sit and watch back-to-back episodes of this show I'm trying my hardest not to fall into that trap by limiting myself to one episode per day. Otherwise my reading will suffer and after only just getting my reading mojo back at the beginning of this month I'm determined to keep hold of it. So for me, at least for the time being, it's one episode per day.
  21. I've only just recently got in to this show and actually happened to come across it by chance after browsing around on Amazon for a new show to watch; preferably one that didn't cost too much. Gilmore Girls caught my eye and after watching a couple of episodes I was completely hooked. I've since gone on to purchase the entire series and I'm slowly making my way through it at the moment. I finished Season 1 yesterday so will be making a start on Season 2 today. I don't know whether it's the characters, the storylines, the setting of Stars Hollow or a mixture of all three but either way there seems to be something really special about this show which has a habit of pulling people in. I'm glad that there are other people on here that share my love of this show but please forgive me if I don't participate in in-depth discussions about it at the moment because I'm trying to stay spoiler free.
  22. I finished Something from Tiffany's by Melissa Hill last night so today I'm going to make a start on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
  23. I'm 29, but only for a few more months.
  24. I started Melissa Hill's new book, Something from Tiffany's, last night so I'm hoping to get it finished at some point this afternoon.
  25. Kylie, I'm not planning on going anywhere, anytime soon. It's just nice to have found a place where I can talk with like-minded people who understand about my obsession with books. I'm the only book-obsessed person in my family/group of friends and they don't really 'get' that side of me. When I'm depressed or need cheering up I don't drink alcohol or go shopping for shoes... I buy books.
