I completely missed the 2nd series due to being on hols. I won't have time to catch up with them all on iPlayer but would you suggest I watch the last one only or do I need to see them in sequence to get the drift?
Chris Evans was encouraging people to watch it on the iplayer but he recommended that you watch the second one first, the first one second and the last one last - I have to say I completely see where he is coming from, but I also agree with Ruth if you only have time to watch one then make it the last one.

There's another theory doing the rounds that it wasn't Sherlock lying on the ground, but a corpse that Molly had appropriated from the mortuary. The corpse was wearing a Sherlock mask, which would tie in with why the little girl screamed when she saw Sherlock (because Moriarty also wore a Sherlock mask when he held the kids captive).
of course and that also reminds me that in the first episode of this sereis that woman (the "escort")
faked her own death and we saw her "body" in the morge so Molly and Shelock must have used the same methods

Oh nice theory KO
I hadn't actually put any thought into it as decided I would be no where near the truth but now that you have said that it does make sense to one question I had. My question was how comes a crowd gathered around Sherlock when he was partially hidden but no one went to check in John when he was clearly in the middle of the road so using your theory
the crowd around Sherlock must have been actors
I will definitely have to watch that one again

My only "challenge" is to try to read all the Dickens I haven't so far read (and I have no idea at this point how many books that will ammount to)
I am sure you will manage it. I wish I could read more Dickens but I find him hard going he is too wordyfor me. I have read Great Expectations and Our Mutual Friend and have started A Tale of Two Cities and am currently listening to a couple of them on the I-player at the moment.

Wedlock: How Georgian Britain's Worst Husband Met His Match - Wendy Moore
that sounds like my kind of book I shall add it to the wish list straight away.

Thats one heck of a TBR list you have got there . I look forward to seeing your reviews as I have read a handful of those myself.

Skipping Christmas: Christmas with the Kranks
John Grisham
Rated: 3/5
Comments: This was the perfect read to end the holiday season with. In the aftermath of Christmas you fully empathise with the Kranks and their wish to avoid the holidays for just one year. I almost envied them and their plans to get away but knew in my heart that things would not run so smoothly. An entertaining tale that manages to point out all of those silly festive rituals that we go through year after year whilst at the same time, holding on to those reasons that we do it. Anyone who thinks they've had enough lights and tinsel for one year, I recommend this read to you.
I remember reading this book on the bus and I started crying at the end it was so touching. Its a nice little read and very different from all his lawyer books.

I have gathered up all the books I want to read this year and am matching them to genre's
I haven't read them all yet am a third of the way through Fire its just building up to something now. Will try and do reviews on all 3 together when I have finished.

I just finished The Search by Nora Roberts, could be considered a crime novel..
Thank you. I have got crime sorted I was under the impression that Nora Roberts would do for romance.
I am thinking about doing another challenge alongside the genre one and that is to read an Agatha Christie book a month but only after I have read my genre books.

How many challenges does one man need ?
I did think the other day that take the top 10, 20, 30 etc of the freebie kindle list as a challenge but not that many of them interest me. Good luck I shall watch this space with interest.

I finished my first Stephanie Plum novel today.
I discovered Stephanie Plum last year and am trying to pace myself. Its nice to know of something light to have between heavier reads.
I like your new bookshelves they would look good either side of a comfy reading armchair.

I felt the same way Easy Reader about the first book after I finished it and reviewed it. I thought the pervy bits were in it for gratuitous purposes. But, I changed my mind after reading the second book. You will enjoy that much more it is all about Salander. After reading all 3 books I felt that Larsson was making a serious point about women in society.
I am now on page 70 ish of Fire and am enjoying it so far but I am worrying about the poor girl in the prolouge.

I have loads of these kinds of questions especially when it comes to Harry Potter. I quite often think I will ask around on that one and then think I will be baffled by the answer so in the end I just put it down to magic.
How comes all these teachers and wizards keep putting blocking charms/spells over everything but Hermoine can break them ?? (which reminds me another reason I don't like to ask is my wording isn't very good)
One I thought of when watching Chamber of Secrets at the beginning of terms first years arrive by boat (after getting off the train) but where is the water they sail across the rest of the year? Which also leads me to why doesn't the train go right up to Hogwarts save the first years go by boat and everyone else go by those horse things you can only see if you have seen someone die??
I could go on.

Not really my kind of book I only purchased them because they were on offer and lots of people seem to enjoy them. After getting them I did think that I would never get around to reading them but they have slotted in nicely into the 2012 genre challenge. I have finished Tattoo and just started Fire, although I did enjoy Tattoo I don't think I would have carried on with the series if I hadn't already purchased them. I found the beginning slow going and the book didn't really pick up until Mikael and Lisbeth met. I was also a little disappointed with the conclusion of what happened to Harriett in that I was expecting it to be more complex. I don't understand the need to the constant references to the many members of the Vagner family there was just an unnecessary number of them especially given that between them all there were only two personalities. Basically I did enjoy the book despite it not being my "thing" although I would have enjoyed it more if it was shorter, less gruesome and had less characters. 7/10
However my interest rapidly faded away as gore and fashionable sexual perversions accumulated.
I was just starting to enjoy the books when this came up and I did think that I wasn't enjoying the book enough to carry on with it but found I still had to read it. I did think it would be nice if these parts of the book were in a different font so people like myself could skim over those bits
Hope there's more Lisbeth, less Mikael! (Sorry I found all the financial/Wennerstrom stuff a bit dull!)
Her parts in the books were definitely more interesting than his and as for the Wennerstrom stuff
-
Well I was a little disappointed
I suppose it was good but I was expecting better esp. as Russell Tovey is one of my fav. actors (I think he was too similar to his Being Human character)

Could do with a little help picking out a romance. Although a lot of books I have read could be called romances, I want something completely typical, maybe Mills and Boony. What authors should I go for?
Romance is the genre I am least looking forward to so I will be doing it in February (the shortest month) and thought about doing a mills and boons (because they are small) whatever I get I will be getting it from the library so I can return it and never see it again.

I read my first Genre Challenge book- like Ooshie and Kell I was keen to try a Western. Under A Texas Star by Alison Bruce.
I'm looking forward to the Western one so I will be saving it for later on in the year give me time to do a bit of research on what book(s) to choose. And also to see what others have read for this genre
I have decided that I am going to try and double up on my Genre challenge, and read 2 genres per month. I need two more genres though to make 24, any ideas anyone?
how about: - Political, Urban, Religious, Self Help (I'm not saying you need it just a suggetion), diary

Re the above Spolier
The bit I didn't get was that
surely someone would have needed to fly the plane and that person would have to be alive??

Review for Jeanette Winterson's Why Be Happy When You Could be Normal? on 2011 blog.
Excellent review I will definitely have to add it to the list now
I thought the beginning to Oranges was brilliant but then it went weird at the end so was waiting for you to say the same about "Normal" but you didn't and a 10/10 can't be sniffed at.
-
Brilliant
I just love the little jokes along the way when you least expect them esp. Mrs Hudson
I might just have to watch it again (just in case I missed anything)
-
I have caught up with it now
I did read the books years ago and was a bit sketchy on the ending and it sort of rang true but I felt it was missing something
I remember really feeling for Joe Gargary in the book and felt he didn't really come across as being the same in this but not in a bad way. I really enjoyed watching it and recapping on the story, I felt it was just the right length and I got a little bit emotional at the end.
Might have to re-read it now

I can't wait
The trailer looks brilliant (even though that woman in it (was also in spooks) annoys me)

Well I am feeling pretty pleased with myself I started the year with the challege of reading 52 books (previous high total being 40) and today Ihave finished my 54th
finished with a re-read of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - my least favourite of the HP's I think I read it to quickly before as I didn't really follow it this time around I had a large break from it in the middle a few months back and the other day I realised I could set myself the challenge of finishing it before the new year. I am glad that I have re read it it wasn't as bad as I remember it being although I do still feel its unnecessarily long.

I am still waiting to read all three of the Millienum trillogy before reviewing but I have got to mention somewhere on here
the ending of The Girl Who Played with Fire - Really ???? Its all a little bit far fetched.
