Hellooooo! And Welcome!
-
I was wondering if anyone had read the Silver Brumby series as a kid - or even as an adult!? I read these books when I was about 13 and mad about horses (I still am). They were based on a herd of brumbys (wild horses in Australia - similar to Mustangs in America. The mane character was called Thowra and his mother Bel Bel! I loved these books and am tempted to buy them again and re-read them as an adult and see if I enjoy them just the same.

Well I Know this Much is True by Wally Lamb was amazing. The whole way through the book I felt as though I was participating in the story and living it along with the characters. There is a split 2/3 of the way through the book when one of the characters reads through his grandfathers life history and this falls in perfectly with the story and becomes a whole new short story on its own which is equally excellent! This is just my sort of book and if you like books which are very well written and can involve you in whole experience as well as being superbly entertaining then you should give it a try - I loved it! 10/10 Next up The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters I have started reading this for my book club and it is definitely not something I would normally pick up but 2/3 of the way through and loving it! Can't wait to read more of Sarah Waters. My mum is reading Fingersmith by her at the moment and is totally addicted!

I have just been reading through this older post and feel somewhat comforted! I also shortlist my books before I have finished one and move them round in different piles according to what mood I'm in. On my book shelf I have a pile of the short list books I have chosen to read next and often find myself looking at them longingly, inpatient to get them started then when I finish the book I'm on I could be in a completely different frame of mind and pick a completely different book than the one I had picked out previously! My bf thinks I'm weird hanging around my book shelf perusing the books as if I've never seen them before or I'm in a library! I guess I just like picking them up and looking at them!

I can't wait to read Neverwhere, really looking forward to it!

I loved this book and I thought the film did it justice too

I do quite like james Patterson. All the books I've read have been decent stories and easy to read.

I have started reading The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters for this new bookclub I'm going to On tuesday. I doubt I will get it finished but will have a good stab at it. I also started reading Memoirs of a Geisha over the weekend and I love it so far but think I need to concentrate on one at a time!

Just looking up older posts and have noticed this one. I have never heard of bookcrossing before! I have had a quick look at the site but don't really get what you are supposed to do - is there a specific place where you are supposed to leave the books at these locations?

Haha I definately cried!

Right I have finished I Know this much is True by Wally Lamb. Amazing book. 10 out of 10 Review to follow! If I can do it justice!

Hi welcome! I am pretty new on here too - hope you enjoy it. How did you find Never Let me Go? I have it on my bookshelf waiting to be devoured!

Well after ringing round my local libraries I have found a book club to join eek! I've been thinking about it for a while as a way to meet other book lovers in the flesh but I've never really had the confidence as I've never really written a book review or talked about books with anyone before! (Apart from the folks!) SO! It starts next Tuesday evening and it is just a small group of six people a few of which are round my age, late 20s early 30s which is nice as a lot I enquired about catered for retirees and mature people only! Not that I am ageist but I would like to use it as a social venture too! So the book they are reading for next week is The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters which I actually picked up at the marker over the weekend and I was going to ignore it as the cover looked chick - lit but the stall owner recommended it to me so I took it home. Looking at the reviews on Amazon they are very very mixed and it will be interesting to read something I would not normally choose! Wish me luck eeek!

Thanks for all your suggestions, I think I'll try Mark Billingham, Manda Scott and Erica Spindler as I've never heard her mention any of those so they should be a safe bet for a present. Interesting how so many crime/thriller authors seem to be women! -
I used to live in the middle east and have a bookmark bought from Bedouins and made from camel hair haha total random x
