  1. I saw the first 45 minutes of Predators, but fell asleep three times so had to go to bed. Will have to rent it again to see the second half.
  2. Just finished Holy Terror, by Graham Masterton, possibly the first book of his that I've read that hasn't grossed and/or freaked me out, lol. Also just finished Beyond Exile, by J. L. Bourne. Just started Carnies, by Martin Livings, and am enjoying it so far.
  3. Got a few going at the moment, as usual: Day by Day Armageddon by J. L. Bourne Made in America by Bill Bryson Hyperion by Dan Simmons
  4. I'm really tired of having something in my hand one second and then being utterly unable to find it the next!
  5. I am now the happy owner of a Mitsubishi 380. 3.8L 6 cyclinder, automatic, cruise control, and a boot button. Everything I wanted Husband is now the happy owner of a Ford XR5 Focus. Not quite everything he wanted, but he's working on it!
  6. The last one I saw was Skyline. The ads for this film were brilliant, but the movie didn't live up to them. It was watchable, but we felt no connection with the characters at all. Disappointing.
  7. I'm a married mum of 2 I have bipolar disorder I own a domestic cleaning agency I'm getting crankier (or less likely to put up with other people's crap) as I get older I can't sleep without my iPod on, listening to an audiobook
  8. I turned 35 last month. Definitely getting the laugh lines around the eyes, now
  9. Last thing I saw at the movies was Paranormal Activity 2. Last one on DVD was The A-Team, I think. Oh, no, I watched the second Transformers movie this afternoon. I have Pan's Labyrinth here, I just have to remember to watch it.
  10. My God, is it actually called that?? lol I heard Jeremy mention it on Top Gear one night and I thought he was making fun of it when he said the title. Sorry if you're a fan, but over here in Oz that title sounds daft I gather it's your version of Dancing With The Stars, or something like that?
  11. I have a 2005 Kia Rio sedan, polar silver. I bought it new so I'd have a nice, trouble-free, economical car to putt around in. Hmmmmmmmm. It chews tyres and clutches like crazy (not my driving, none of my other cars have done that), gets half the economy it's supposed to, and the ignition immobiliser works so well I had to get it repaired so the thing would start occasionally. I am now in the market for a large, powerful six cylinder car that understands what I mean when I push my foot on the accelerator, and to hell with fuel prices
  12. I'm not a romance reader, but I must say that I found Richard Matheson's "What Dreams May Come" to be an unexpectedly beautiful love story. The whole time I was reading it I wanted to get to the end to see what happened, but at the same time I wished it would never end. It was amazing.
  13. When I was about twelve I started devouring Ed McBain books. I loved the 87th Precinct stories, and still think fondly of Cotton Hawes, Meyer Meyer and all the other cops I got to know so well. *happy sigh*
  14. I read Carrie when I was 8 I've always been drawn to nasty and horrible stories, particularly anything involving zombies or aliens. Zombies because I'm just fascinated by these creatures that keep coming and coming and coming at you, no matter what you do (besides the inevitable shot to the head, but they never figure that out until later, lol). Aliens because they're so different and you never know what to expect.
  15. Yeah. As a teenager I read everything he wrote and bought each new book as soon as it was released. Then I went completely off his stuff for ages, only returning a few years ago. I love the Odd Thomas books, though the last one was pretty dull - nothing really happened, did it? - and I enjoyed The Taking and The Face. But everything else he's released lately has just been the same stuff over and over and over. We get it, you love golden retrievers, you love Tiffany lamps, bougainvilleas, guns, impatiens, architecture, petunias, etc etc etc. The stuff he's writing now is in complete defiance of what less experienced writers are told: don't use the same stuff in every story. He's like Barbara Cartland: change the names, maybe the location, and there's your next story. They all sound great when you read the blurb but all I get from his work now is a feeling of blah.
  16. I can't think of a single book by Graham Masterton that hasn't contained at least one scene that completely freaked me out. The man is sick, lol. Also, there's a scene in House On Haunted Hill by Shirley Jackson that really got to me. Two of the characters are in one of the bedrooms and the ghosty thing is crashing its way methodically down the hallway towards them. Scared the bejesus out of me. The rest of the book was pretty tame, but I'll always remember that scene.
  17. I'm also zombie-mad, so I'll be keeping an eye out for that one here in Oz!
  18. Thomas the Tank Engine, lol. My son loves it, I do not.
  19. Dead Poet's Society - I was on the train or bus when I started crying, most embarrassing! lol The Third Day, The Frost - John Marsden What Dreams May Come - Richard Matheson One Second After - William R. Forstchen Water For Elephants - Sara Gruen On The Edge - Richard Hammond Victim: The Other Side of Murder - Gary Kinder Forgot: The Green Mile - Stephen King Cujo - Stephen King
  20. Bill Bryson's books are very easy reading, as well as funny and entertaining and full of interesting info. I'd recommend Notes From a Small Island, Down Under, Neither Here Nor There, A Walk In The Woods, and Notes From a Big Island. Also, books by Jeremy Clarkson such as Born To Be Riled, And Another Thing, etc, are very easy to read. They're collections of newspaper columns, some about cars, others more general.
  21. Stuff I've read during the past month or so: Notes From A Small Island - Bill Bryson Ancestor - Scott Sigler Neither Here Nor There - Bill Bryson And Another Thing - Jeremy Clarkson The Time Machine - H. G. Wells Tomorrow, When The War Began - John Marsden The Dead Of The Night - John Marsden The Third Day, The Frost - John Marsden Darkness, Be My Friend - John Marsden Burning For Revenge - John Marsden The Night Is For Hunting - John Marsden The Other Side Of Dawn - John Marsden Paranormalcy - Kiersten White Books I'm reading now: (as of Nov 2, 2010) Mother Tongue - Bill Bryson At Home - Bill Bryson Born To Be Riled - Jeremy Clarkson
  22. It has been about 18 months to 2 years since I read it, but I do remember I quite enjoyed it. Like somebody else said, this was a lot less predictable than the Twilight series.
