Just popping on quckly for a quick update on me We are moving house on Wednesday and ive been so busy packing for the last two weeks that I'm totally exhausted. I think its worse that we are only moving across the garden than a normal move as we are having to back not only our stuff but MIL and FIL house up too (that we are moving into!) I'm so tired I've been falling asleep at 8pm most nights so I've hardly been reading at all Weve brought a load of furniture for the house now and I'm so pleased that I'm finally going to have some book shelves

34)Local Girl Missing - Clare Douglas Synopsis - Twenty years ago 21-year-old Sophie Collier vanishes one night. She leaves nothing behind but a trainer on the old pier - and a hole in the heart of her best friend Francesca. Now A body's been found. And Francesca's drawn back to the seaside town she's tried to forget. Perhaps the truth of what happened to Sophie will finally come out. Yet Francesca is beginning to wish she hadn't returned. Everywhere she turns are ghosts from her past. The same old faces and familiar haunts of her youth. But if someone knows what really happened to Sophie that night then now's the time to find out - isn't it? Except sometimes discovering the truth can cost you everything you hold dear - your family, your sanity and even your life . . . My Thoughts - I brought this book in the supermarket as part of the 2 books for £7 offer as it sounded really good and I'm pleased to say that it was really good. It was one of those books that you couldnt put down and wanted to read just one more chapter again and again and I ended up reading late into the night! its very much a 'who-dun-it' type of book and two or three times I thought I had worked out who had committed the crime and boy was I wrong! I also didnt see the twist at the end coming which absolutly blew my mind! I think I have another book by this author somewhere and I'll definitely be reading more! Rating - 4.5/5

It was definitely enjoyable as long as you like the genre if you get what I mean! Its not a genre I read loads but I do like it every now and again - especially if I've read a rather heavy going book before! I think as long as you bear in mind that its chick lit and you enjoy it then you should be ok

I've been very busy the last few days! We have finally sited the in-laws caravan ready to move around here which is brilliant I cant wait to get into a house! So on the back of that now that the caravan is sited and the container is due for delivery on Tuesday we can finally start to move around. Weve been and ordered some funiture this week as all of ours is built in and I cant wait to have a proper sofa etc! I've also been packing up everything that we dont use very often so that I dont have too much to do once we can move in - its amazing how much stuff you have when you start packing up! I've ground to a halt now as I've run out of boxes! Also its my little ones 2nd birthday on the 25th so I've been wrapping presents in the evenings as I dont know whether we will be in the caravan or the house at that point!

33)Dream a Little Dream - Giovanna Fletcher Synopsis - Sarah is doing just fine. Sure she's been single for the last five years, and has to spend an uncomfortable amount of time around her ex-boyfriend, his perfect new girlfriend and all their mutual friends. And yes, her job as a PA to one of the most disgusting men in London is mind-numbingly tedious and her career is a constant disappointment to her mother. But it's really okay. She's happy (ish). So it's not surprising that when Sarah starts dreaming about a handsome stranger, she begins to look forward to falling asleep every night. Reality isn't nearly as exciting. That is until her dream-stranger makes an unexpected real-life appearance, leaving Sarah questioning everything she thought she wanted. Because no one ever really finds the person of their dreams... do they? My Thoughts - This is the first book I've read by Giovanna Fletcher - however i do follow her and her husband Tom on Instagram/Facebook/Youtube etc and they both seem like very lovely people. I brought this book with my Christmas money last year and I've only just got around to it. It is a chick-lit book but I do like this genre of book every so often but it was very good. It was a very easy to read book and the plot is very easy going. It does deal with a few harder to read about subjects in the middle but i felt like it delt with them well. Its a perfect book for someone that hasnt quite been able to get over an ex boyfriend too. This is the first book that ive read by the author but it definitely wont be the last. Rating - 4/5

The only downside that I find with this way is getting the covers to match haha - oh the problems we book lovers have!
-
I've finished Dream a Little Dream by Giovanna Fletcher and I've started Local Girl Missing by Claire Douglas.

I'm the same - the only problem I have when I've done this before is buying the whole series and then not liking it so I've been stuck with a series I dont like! So I've been trying to buy just the first in the series and if i like it then I'll buy some more. I always feel guilty about not reading books that I already own!

Its definitely chick-lit but I dont mind it every now and again but the book is good I loved Tom's wedding speech I think ive watched it about 10 times - so amazing! I also follow them both on Instagram/Youtube This is very good - I follow them both on Youtube/Instagram and they both come across as so lovely. They also have the two kids that are around the same age as my little one so it feels very releivent to me

I want to read the Infernal Devices but I think I'm going to finish Mortal Instruments first Thank you I'm pleased I've already got the next book in the series to start as that would have annoyed me not being able to find out what had happened if say the next book hadnt been released!

32)City of Fallen Angels - Cassandra Clare Synopsis - Discover more secrets about the Shadowhunters as they fight to protect the world from demons in the fourth book in the internationally bestselling series. To love is to destroy... The Mortal War is over, and Clary Fray is home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and – most importantly of all – she can finally call Jace her boyfriend. But her happiness has come at a price... Read all the sensational books in The Shadowhunter Chronicles: The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, The Bane Chronicles, The Dark Artifices, The Last Hours and The Shadowhunter’s Codex. My Thoughts - The is the 4th book in the Mortal Instruments series and to be honest its taken me far to long to pick up this book. I loved the first three and I'm so pleased to say that I loved this book too. It was wonderful to revisit all the characters and storylines as before and it explained what had happened before in previous books so well - I was pleased because it had been so long in between reading the 3rd and 4th that I was a little bit lost in regards to plot but the explainations were really good and it really helped me get stuck back into the series. The author of this series is so good at twists and turns in the plot lines and this book was no different. Some parts I had to read two or three times to make sure I was reading it right! I definitaly wont be leaving it so long to read book #5 especially as the book left on a massive cliffhanger! A brilliant read. Rating - 5/5

It is one of the best books for answering all the questions - so looking forward to re-reading the last book now though

thank you I'm not a fan of historical fiction much either - just the second world war which is a bit strange haha!

How many books have you read this year?
lauraloves replied to aromaannie's topic in General Book Discussions
I've read 31 - I wanted to read 52 this year but I'm not sure if that will happen - I've got some serious reading to do if so! -
Been busy again the last few days - its always my busiest time with work the month end just getting all the paperwork completed for the month and bills paid. I've found its much easier to do a mini sort out at the end of every month rather than doing it every quarter like it used to. I've now got a poorly little toddler too - I think its just a cold but he was up all night coughing Hes now gone for a nap so I'm catching up here

31)When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit - Judith Kerr Synopsis - Partly autobiographical, this is first of the internationally acclaimed trilogy by Judith Kerr telling the unforgettable story of a Jewish family fleeing from Germany at the start of the Second World War Suppose your country began to change. Suppose that without your noticing, it became dangerous for some people to live in Germany any longer. Suppose you found, to your complete surprise, that your own father was one of those people. That is what happened to Anna in 1933. She was nine years old when it began, too busy with her schoolwork and toboganning to take much notice of political posters, but out of them glared the face of Adolf Hitler, the man who would soon change the whole of Europe – starting with her own small life. Anna suddenly found things moving too fast for her to understand. One day, her father was unaccountably missing. Then she herself and her brother Max were being rushed by their mother, in alarming secrecy, away from everything they knew – home and schoolmates and well-loved toys – right out of Germany… My Thoughts - I've had this book on my wishlist for ages and I finally got around to buying and reading it this yeat. It was brilliant and I cant believe that I left it this long to read it. Its sort od semi-autobiographical and it will be interesting to compare the authors life to this book and see the simularities. Any book about the second world war/nazi Germany is always very much enjoyed by me as its my favouite historical period. Its the first book in the trilogy and I've already added the second book to my wishlist - just hope its as good as the first! Rating - 5/5

Supermarket shopping is dangerous especially with the 2 books for £7 offer! Today I got Local Girl Missing by Claire Douglas and also The Girl With No Name - Diney Costeloe. Just jumping on the theme of how much you read in a day - I try to read around 50 pages a day - it doesnt always happen with an almost 2 year old but thats what I'm trying to do at the minute

30) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - J. K. Rowling Synopsis - 'In a brief statement on Friday night, Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge confirmed that He Who Must Not Be Named has returned to this country and is once more active. "It is with great regret that I must confirm that the wizard styling himself Lord - well, you know who I mean - is alive and among us again," said Fudge.' These dramatic words appeared in the final pages of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In the midst of this battle of good and evil, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince takes up the story of Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with Voldemort's power and followers increasing day by day My Thoughts - I've been re-reading the Harry Potter series over the course of the year and I'm sad to say I'm nearly through the books. This isnt one of my favourites of the series but it does explain an awful lot. Draco Malfoy is explored as a character and so is Snape. Its very heavy on Voldemorts past too with Harry having his private lessons with Dumbledore in this book. There are a lot of deaths in this book, lots of falling in loves in this book and lots of growing up. The characters do seem to grow up over the course of this book. Overall its a great book even if its not one of my favourites! Rating - 5/5
