  1. It's difficult to answer this one, since it really depends on the whole situation I'm in, sometimes I have more time for books, sometimes I just don't feel like focusing on reading that much, sometimes I have some educational books to read along with the just-for-fun books... I voted for three+, because that's how it tends to be mostly. I usually have something like one non-fiction book going and then a novel or two or some poetry. For example, I've lately been studying on my own to get the basics of a certain thing learned, so I have had a pile of those books plus a novel going on at the same time.

  2. Anyway, for me, with piercings, pain is part of the experience, it would be less fun if it didn't hurt at all. :D Plus, I really wanted all of them, as now with my tattoo, so even if it hurts, I don't care..

Indeed. I don't like the feeling of being tattooed, but tolerating it means that I really want the tattoo done. I think it's completely okay to go through some pain to have something permanent done to your body.

I like going under the needle alone, I don't need or want any friends with me. It is, however, okay if someone wants to come. I once had a friend of mine with me and it had its plus sides, too. She was with me when I got the swallows done, because it took so little time and we were going for a dinner after that, so why not. :-)

Like promised, picture of my cherry blossoms. I wanted them to be delicate and feminine and very pretty. I dress very femininely and use the colour pink as a highlight often, so these indeed suit me. These were done by J-P of a place called Putka, I really liked the result and loved the fact that the guy so completely understood what I was aiming for when I explained what I want.

    Click for the pic.

And another one, showing the positioning a bit better. Make-up free me, topped with a silly expression and hair covered in hairspray of the previous night out, yay!

  3. They made me and my hubby feel really welcomed and relaxed when we got our tats done and they didn't make me feel like an idiot when I passed out either.

I just want to mention, I didn't pass out because of any pain - I just pass out for no apparent reason (the docs haven'e quite figured out why yet - even hafter more than a decade of tests!) and this was one of those occasions. Probably not helped by the fact that I was so excited that I couldn't eat brekkie that morning - LOL!

It's actually pretty common that people start feeling dizzy and even pass out when getting a tattoo. It's mostly because of the excitement, you might end up being too concentrated on the tattoo that's being done and forget to breathe properly and then you start feeling bad. It happened to me when I got the swallows on my fingers done, the tattoo artist warned me that it's gonna hurt and I probably focused on that thought a bit too much :-D I noticed the dizziness striking me and asked for a little break, after that it went all fine.

It's very important to me, too, to feel welcome and relaxed in the place where I'm getting my tatts done. I also want to have some kind of a connection with the person tattooing me, we need to understand each other so that the result will be the best one possible.

  4. Tattoos ARE addictive. I have some stars on my lower back, swallows on the sides of my middle fingers and a cherry blossom branch on my upper back/neck. I'm currently planning on my half-sleeve, the details are still a secret ( ), but it's going to have roses and lilies and some traditional-styled themes. I love the neo-traditional style of tattooing, two of my favourite artists of that genre here in Finland are Juha Lensu and Hexa. Hexa was the one who did these swallows of mine, lovely guy.

About the pain, then. I'm really sensitive and if I got through it (and am going to go and get even more and more ink), I bet anyone can, haha. The most painful spots for me were the spine area on the lower back and the fingers, because they were inked twice as deep as the usually, to get the ink stay on properly. Difficult spot to tattoo...

I'll post a picture of my cherry blossoms later when I'm on my own computer again.

  5. I can read pretty much everywhere and in any situation. At least novels, non-fiction usually needs a bit calmer environment, at least if I want to really, really focus on the text.

One of my favourite places to read is simply on my sofa, either sitting with my legs crossed or comfortably curled up. Some tea and maybe something little to eat... Purrrfect! I otherwise like reading in the bed, too, but I can't do it that often since I have troubles with sleeping anyway and reading a good book doesn't help falling asleep at all.

I often read in my garden after work in the summer.

I do that, too. It's my favourite time of the day, relaxing after the day at work, enjoying both the book and the garden and the summer... OH. Reading outdoors on a sunny day in the summer is lovely.

  6. Made some progress in Kerouac's Lonesome traveler. I also visited my favourite book store, they had some nice offers but I'm a bit too short on cash at this very moment... It was still a bit hard to leave that book about vintage shoes there, the only one I'm missing from my vintage this-and-that collection.

  7. I've never heard of a kleinspitz before so I googled it, and the dogs look really cute :friends0:

Oh, they are cute indeed, but the ego... Spicy little creatures!

    Loved your introduction!

    Yay!

...and thanks again to all of you who have welcomed me. Sweet!

And special thanks to the lovely Univerze, she was the one who pointed me to this place!

  8. I went to see The Lovely Bones last night. It is SO good and so sad :D

I've been planning on going to see that one. I liked the book a lot, and - referring to lexiepiper's comment - it's nice to hear it sticks to the original story pretty well.

The last film I saw at the cinema was David Lynch's Eraserhead. They are showing older films at my favourite cinema every Monday, such a nice idea.
