  1. I have about 70 pages left of Pride and prejudice and zombies and I plan on finishing it today
  2. I don't know if anyone had mentioned them but I would love to see Lian Herns book about the Otori clan as a movie/movies. They are such great books and I think they would translate perfectly on to the big screen
  3. the simpsons morning or evening
  4. I'm from Sweden, I grew up in a small village in the south of Sweden with a population of like 1100 people. Now I live in a town called Ystad. You might recognize it because it's where all the murders happen in Henning Mankells Wallander-series
  5. I'm 24 and will be 25 this year.
  6. All families are psychotic by Douglas Coupland is one of my favorites and On beauty by Zadie Smith.

    Hi there

    Welcome!!
  10. I have aquestin about dr. who. Since I'm not from engad I havn't grown up with the series, but it look great to me and I think I really would enjoy it. But where do I begin? It started in 1965(?) I think. Should I start watching from the beginning or from the 2005 episodes?
  11. Welcome! I'm new myself and from Sweden so we are pretty close!!
  12. I would say it bothers me more when they make movies out of very recent events. Books feel kinder, like they not just writing it to make a ton of money. I have to agree about not liking when the character changes actual events. But just living through the is okay with me.
  13. I had some problems with jPod as well but in the end I thought it was a good book, not his best though. I remember loving Life after God, Elenore Rigby and Girlfriend in a Coma. I haven't read the Gum Theif yet but it's on my list.

    E-Books

I think Google Books have a few. I know there are some you have to pay for but I found Alice adventures in Wonderland for free. I never read all the way through though because I have a hard time with reading anything on screen.
  15. I feel much better now because I thought it was just me. I'm horrible at remembering things I've read. I remember how it made me feel and that I liked or disliked the book. But if you ask me what is was about I can hardly tell you anything. I think it is some part have to do with me reading as fast as I can when I really like the book and that makes me sometimes just glance over words missing small details. But now that I think about it I do that when I find the book boring as well....
  16. Thank you!!
  17. I am a young woman living with my five sisters in England, while my mother want to find men for us to marry I fight zombies.
  18. Thank you!!!! It's nice to hear that I'm not the only born again reader And Raven, yes I've read Microserfs and loved it. I love Coupland because no one can describe things like him. You read it and think, yes that is exactly how it is or look like.
  19. So I'm pretty new here though I've been lurking a while. I've always read a lot but during my college years my reading slowed down due to the amount of course work and mandatory books to read. Now that I'm done with college I call my self a born again reader with a lot of catching up to do. Favorite authors include Douglas Coupland and J.K Rowling (Yes I read the Harry Potter series more than four times, might as well say it). Right now I'm reading Pride and prejudice and zombies... I think this forum is absolutely wonderful and I have gotten a ton of ideas of what I want to read already. Looking forward to discussing all my favorite books with you all!! Rose
  20. Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy in the 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorites. But then again I might say Colin Firth in anything...
  21. My version had, although a small print, 1.5 pt line spacing and pictures here and there! I mean I've missed at least 1/3 of the book. I don't feel like reading it all over again but if I ever decided to re-read it in the future I will make sure it's all of the book. But as you said I'm not sure she is the best librarian. I will definitely look twice next time I borrow a classic.
  22. Han anyone experienced this? I went to my local library to pick up The Count of Monte Cristo and at first I found this one book in the young adults section which was about 300 pages. I thought it seemed short since my boyfriend had talked about reading it when he was younger and told me it was several books long. So I decided to ask the librarian if they had the full version. Sure she said and took me down to the basement where all the old books seemed to live. She proceeded to give me two books, both around 300 pages long. I though this seemed fine and I read them and really liked them. Then I went home to my boyfriends house and he showed me the version he had read. It was six books all around 300 pages! They stole parts of my book, why would they do that! I even asked for the full version. Why do they do this to classics? I don't think they would decide to shorten a modern book. Anyway I just feel robbed of some of the story.
  23. I haven't actually read this book yet, it's on my TBR list but several of my friends are raving about it. The name of the Wind by patrick Rothfuss. It's been described as Harry Potter for adults. Its actuallt part of a series called Kingkiller Chronicles and he is writing the next one at the moment.
  24. Tack, vad trevligt! Looks like a great forum. Haven't had the time to use it as much as I want to, but hopefully in the future I will!

  25. I love dedications, JK. Rowlings in Deathly Hallows as mentioned above. I have to read everything that is written before the book actually begins. yes this does include publisher, printer and so on.... I find the books without dedications a bit weird. http://booksinmylife.blog.com/
