To be honest it took me a while to get into Avatar when I went to see it.. Wasn't that impressed by the beginning but thoroughly enjoyed it after maybe half an hour, thought the animation was fantastic.
Was surprised to see that The Road did not get any nominations - anyone else see this? I thought it was excellent.
Also Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones - agree with this nomination as Actor in Supporting Role - read an article on him and his late wife had advised him not to go for the role in this film because of the topic of the film. 'he found himself struggling to finish the story because the detailed rape and murder scenes were too traumatic' - he read the book by Alice Sebold and this was his reaction.
I read the book when I was quite young and remember finding it really disturbing. I saw the film through SeeFilmFirst, I don't think it is out until the 19th of February but it is very good, as is the book. I would recommend both the film and the book. The film is definitely not as traumatic as the book - it is certificate 12 and a lot of the more disturbing scenes are left out.
