I’m not a huge fan of The X Factor and don’t watch it, but I do think the whole campaign against the winner was a little pathetic to be honest with you. I mean the only reason Rage Against The Machine was at number one was because of an organised campaign to get it there. Looking at the Facebook group for it it seems like a lot of people bought numerous copies of it just to prevent another artist from getting to number one. Doesn’t that just make a mockery of the charts to begin with?! It’s not a true number one!
Now I can understand some people not liking the fact that The X Factor winner was almost guaranteed a number one single regardless of who it was without the campaign but I do think taking it as far as some people did was actually quite hateful.
But anyway that’s just my opinion.
