I never read reviews as what works for one doesn't for another. If I like the synopsis I buy the book and agree with Hayley on not having any preconceptions.

I'm similar Amy0x the first thing I do when I pick up a new paperback is crack the spine. I don't tend to keep paperbacks, I pass them on or they go to a local charity shop.

Yesterday I rummaged through my TBR pile for a book to read, settled on one and 30 pages in I found a ten pound note . I have no idea how it got there (it was an unread book of 6 years!) but am using it as a bookmark for the moment.

Can't believe this saga is still going strong! I read the first three and then got fed up waiting for the next installment. Think I might revisit her books as I really enjoyed them.

Find myself agreeing with you again Raven. Loved the first series of Heroes and only just got through first two eps of second series, it turned into utter drivel. Loving the Event so far.

Anything by Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Brett Easton Ellis and anything to do with Harry Potter.

Couldn't agree more with your first sentence Raven. I read a book for pleasure not because I think I have to read it because it's a 'classic'.

We downloaded Cut the Rope last night and yes it is very addictive

I've just been given this book, hopefully it will grab me from the start. If after 100 pages I'm finding a book a chore, I bin it, so hopefully this isn't the case with this one as I've read some great reviews.

Downloaded Words for Friends for the iPad yesterday and we love it. You can play and pass as well as going online with it. Thanks for mentioning it Nici

I like the look of that Words with Friends, so will probably download it . As yet I haven't downloaded much at all for the iPad. Just Pub Quiz HD which is quite good and SharePrice which gives live streaming share prices.

I'm just about to finish Fear the Worst. I've enjoyed all of his books. Glad to see he has another book out in September .

When I'm reading a hardback I usually use the dust jacket as a bookmark . I'm not very sentimental when it comes to books I'm afraid.

You probably could read it as a stand-alone Ooshie. It's not too far into the Prey series either and they always give you a little bit of background to the central character, Lucas Davenport. I've read all of the Prey novels and am thinking of starting at the beginning again!

Like others have said, I prefer the physical nature of books. My eyes get tired after reading from a 'screen' for a while although I've never tried reading an ebook. I might give it a try on the iPad as I've been lucky enough to have one bought for me as a gift.

Winter Prey by John Sandford is set in deep winter. Sandford's Prey series is best read in order though.

10-12, yikes! I'm deliberating over how many to take with me this year as we're going to be on a beach in the back of beyond for 17 days and I'll go through a lot of books. Limited to 20kgs luggage as we have to take a seaplane at the end of our journey. Planning to pack some and then buy more when we get through departures to get round the 5kgs hand luggage.

I'm a big fan of Karen Rose and and have read all of her books. Just about to finish I can See You which I've really enjoyed.

I bought the first two Dexter books a number of years before he hit the screen but couldn't finish the first one, just didn't like it at all. Although I was pleasantly surprised by the TV series which I loved.

I'm looking forward to seeing Avatar 3D, hopefully sooner rather than later! I seem to be in the minority regarding Paranormal Activity. Usually that type of movie freaks me out, but I just didn't like it at all and found it tedious and boring. Apparently various endings were shot, but obviously they chose the one they thought would give the biggest shriek (unfortunately not here!).
