  1. My favourite characters are Jacob and Jasper (not to mention that Jackson Rathbone is the most handsome boy ever ). Jacob is more sincere than Edward, I think (but in the first place, when I was 14, I obviously fell in love with Edward ), and he's more interesting in my opinion. Not clinging on Bella all the time to finally say "ok I have to go now". And Jasper has the most interesting story (although I can't remember it cause it's been a long time since I read it -_-'), and I found really relevant that he was the one who couldn't control himself, and that his power was to... control emotions.
  2. Glad we have hidden the spoilers, then! I had a really old edition of this book, from 1971 I think... The book nearly died in my hands, too brittle. But still the strange French translation (Un Bonheur Insoutenable isn't This Perfect Day, why do they change the words like that? ><). And I also think that there were censored editions of this book, because my friends didn't read some scenes I had! And after they told me "Mathilde, you see sex everywhere"
  3. I checked the summaries of these two books, and I already want them right now! xD They're on my list too, thank you very much!
  4. I'm just like you, maybe you can help me with my "oh my god I have to find 6 books to buy in London in two weeks cause it's three times cheaper than in France" problem. If you have a strange book with asylum things, I will be glad to know it cause I'm crazy about asylums (I nearly wanted to work in an asylum, but I thought about it and found that it wasn't like in horror stories, it's just an hospital ). And for This Perfect Day, I thought the same until the closing chapters!
  5. Yes, but in the middle of the book it's told that they think that
  6. I've read Hide by Lisa Gardner because it was the most attractive English book I found in a bookstore in France (ok, I find blood stains attractive xD), and I really enjoyed it too! For my second real book in English, I was so happy to have found an interesting story! (and a great final twist...) For This Perfect Day, I had to read it for my French exam (although Ira Levin isn't French at all, but it was about a dystopia and this theme was in our program). If I hadn't have to read it, I think I wouldn't have find this book by myself... But yes, I liked it a lot, because it was simple, not sinking me in a lot of details (you often see that in dystopian books, and sometimes it's nearly unbearable, especially when you have to read it quickly like I had to), and the story was really interesting! What did you think of it? The injections scared me, I don't want this world to end like this one...
  7. Under Construction, maybe
  8. I'll type my list from today (5/12/2009), because I can't remember all I've read in the year... But I can remember some, so I'll put them too. 2009 - The Picture of Dorian Gray | Oscar Wilde - Hide | Lisa Gardner - Four Comedies | Oscar Wilde - The Devil Wears Prada | Lauren Weisberger - Everworld 3 | K. A. Applegate - Le Miroir de Cassandre | Bernard Werber - Lord of the Flies | William Golding - All the books for my French exam: Dom Juan (Moli
  9. I've read... eight pages of Sepulchre by Kate Mosse. Didn't have the time to do better. >< I'm also reading all the threads I can, because I really have to do my Christmas list (that means: all the books I will have to spend all my money for in London, cause the books are reaaaally cheaper xD). I also read the summary of the latest Dan Brown, but this book is for my mother, I don't think it's my style.

    Merlin

Yeaaaah I'm not alone to love this show! I'm about to see the second season, I wonder if Merlin will ever tell Arthur about his powers... But maybe he has already told him and I don't know it yet. xD
  11. Ah ah, French sounds good sometimes. When I found that Wuthering Heights = Les Hauts de Hurlements, I thought immediately "oh, it's the book quoted in Twilight"... Not the best reference, but I have now more than one reason to think that this book must be interesting. ^o^ Chrissy => Seems cool! I'm noting it too! *God, give me 4.000 euros to buy them all xD*
  12. I'm reading Sepulchre, and I don't find it that difficult to get into... But maybe it's because I can read other things that the ones written on the pages, I make the story more interesting unconsciously. xD
  13. I hated one book only in my whole life: "Les Oubli
  14. I really like gothic things so I'm noting this one too! I've got too much books to read now, my head is going to break out! xD And I just checked Wuthering Heights, and I've already heard of it: in French it's Les Hauts de Hurlevent, obviously I didn't think of it when I read "Wuthering Heights" (even if it's the meaning of the title, but whatever ><). I must think about this one too.
  15. Big Words => Thank you, although I nearly buy books for their paper qualities sometimes. xD Thank you everyone! ^o^
  16. Linda Gillard => If I can't find Emotional Geology in London, I will search on Amazon.com or another website like this one, and if I really really can't find it I'll ask you, thank you very much! I'm noting your propositions too, I didn't know these other books at all... SueK => Daphne du Maurier? Her name sounds French, maybe I can find it easily in France. ^^ Thank you! Dimitra => I don't know this one, but it's the second time that I hear about this book so I'm going to check this one too. xD
  17. Ok, thanks, I have my special Word file where I note all your propositions. xD I've read the summary of The Notebook, that sounds really good, I note it! I didn't know Emotional Geology, I note it too, but I don't think I'll find it easily in a bookshop in London (I don't even know if I'll have the time to search a bookshop...) but... Amazon.uk is my friend! Thank you for these two books, I'll search the summary of Emotional Geology!
  18. Waaah, thank you everyone, I'm already crazy about being here. xD
  19. I think this has been asked a lot of times, but I'm looking for a love book in English. I'm not used to read romantic things, cause the only books I've read in English were horror books (but I really loved them)... I'd like to read something else than creepy things, for once. xD It's strange by the way, because I'm a crazy romantic girl sometimes, three years ago I started melting on a book called... Fascination / Twilight in English, not really a creepy book, right? xD So I'm looking for a real love story, not full of vacuity like Bella and Edward have shown us (I'm already blas
  20. Thank you! yes, I'm a huge fan of Oscar Wilde, and I really want to read him in English... And I don't have Salome, so if I can buy books I'll seek this one!
  21. I'm Mathilde, 16 (nearly 17) and I'm French! I love a lot of books (a real book-eater I think xD) and I'm going to London for Christmas... I will buy a lot of English books (cause they're cheaper than French books...) and I have my ideas: I'd like to buy Salome by Oscar Wilde, and Labyrinth by Kate Mosse! I also want to find love books (I'm not a huge fan of love stories, but in English they sound better, don't they? ) So I hope I'll find good ideas (but I will, cause everyone's talking about everything here ^o^), and good friends too! Kisses to everyone, even if I don't know you by now. xD
