Already mentioned previously but Walter Moseley is regarded as one of the very best crime writers in the world and worthy of a space in your black authors section.

If your husband enjoyed the Robert Crais Cole and Pike novels there are a wealth of very good American detective series. as a couple of examples you could try Robert B Parker's Spenser series about a private detective set in Boston or Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series about a police detective set in LA. Another thing to try is to select the author you like on the Fantastic Fiction website and at the bottom of the author page there is a box showing which authors other users of the site have visited.

As previously recommended by Chrissy I would also heartily recommend JA or Jack Kerley. Also for a British author you could try Stuart MacBride.

I enjoyed the books by a relatively new Irish author Declan Hughes He writes about a private detective returned from the States and I can thoroughly recommend them if you like that kind of fiction.

Sorry guys it must be me as almost everyone seems to love these books but I found the first one so incredibly slow and gave up halfway through. I think a book half the size would have zipped along at a much better pace but that is just my opinion and I seem to be in the minority with this author.

Hi everyone, have just discovered the forum and am looking forward to taking part in the various discussions. I am a crime fiction fan mainly, American crime fiction preferably, so am looking forward to finding new recommendations and ideas for reading in future.

I am a huge fan of Ken Bruen and have read everything he has written. I particularly enjoyed his Inspector Brant series starting with A White Arrest and also the 3 books he has written for Hard Case Crime with Jason Starr.
