Ordinarily I'd frown upon the use of that phrase, but given that it's been used in relation to an utterly cool-awesome* album, I'll let you off Do you have a favourite track from it? It's difficult, they're all so good and flow so well! Now I'm gonna have to stick it on in the dark later, damn you!
Yeah I read Birdsong for school and I was very impressed, what with the epic war scenes and also the stuff back home in France etc. Gotta love the Faulks!
*And hope you'll do the same for me

It's so easy to slip in these cringeworthy phrases though, I find myself coming out with really embarrassing ones at time - I've no idea where they come from and even worse, can actually think of no suitable alternative! We'll just have to pretend that we're saying them facetiously
I adore the video for Go With the Flow! It's one of my favourite music videos. First it Giveth and The Sky is Fallin' have a really good sound I think, and the radio bits between the tracks are cool. Yep, it'll definitely be going on tonight

The No One Knows vid is a classic Those were the good old days when Nick Oliveri was still in the band! Heh the radio bits are crazy. I hope I don't fall asleep when I'm listening to it later, if I wake up to that it might just freak me out a little bit!
ARGH, look what I've just seen on Wiki:
In a 2010 interview, Josh Homme revealed that the band would re-release their self-titled first album, and that they would do a tour in support of this, only playing songs from their first release.

That's true! I think Shavo had a better beard though. But then again, I don't think Shavo ever played naked on stage like Nick so.... I once stood next to Nick at the bar of a pub! That was a good day.
Yeah, I must get tickets if this happens! It'd be my first time seeing them and for it to be a tour of their first album would be pretty cool!
I have enjoyed these Queens filled convos I think most would be more than a little bored of it by now!
-
And Daron from System had a brilliant 'two-pointer' beard going on. You could surely write a whole thesis based solely on that band's hair/facial hair! Crazy guys. I didn't talk to Nick, I was too scared He did slip us a little smile though! Yeah, if you Google it you can see him in all his glory
It's just as well you're not bored, 'cause now I know you don't mind, I'll be back with every little bit of Josh/Queens/beard related news/excitement that noone else wants to listen to :tong:

Hey chesil! How're you? I've been sat at my desk engrossed in Rebecca all afternoon. I couldn't put it down - then had no choice BUT to when I reached the end of chapter 19 I had conjured up all sorts of theories as to how the story might go, but like you I never expected that! Anyway, I just had to share my surprise with someone Thanks for unintentionally making me go and buy the book

Serj's solo stuff yes, Daron's band - no! Hm, I think I'll have to investigate this Ooh cool, I bet they put on a performance don't they?!
Yeah tis a shame they've not done anything for a while (though I can't believe Hynotize was about 4-5 years ago now?!) and as for a new album and ruling the world, we can live in hope!
-
I'm glad you're enjoying it! It is pretty epic, what with the front line action too. It's an amazing story and like you say his writing style is excellent. I've also read The Girl at the Lion D'or and Charlotte Gray by Faulks, both of which I loved too (but not quite as much as Birdsong!). Have you read any others of his?
-
Yeah he doesn't take any s**t, does Josh I never got the whole throwing stuff at the stage thing
Haha I just re-watched the clip of that, he goes completely mental doesn't he?! And ends up throwing it back at him
Ooh yes, do check out Eagles. I recommend Wanna be in LA, Anything 'Cept the Truth, Cherry Cola... All of them really, you can't go wrong
-
Exactly. How anyone could even consider disrespecting the Homme, I don't know! I really need to see Queens live - I saw Josh with Them Crooked Vultures and he was really very awesome
Ah, you've a lot of Josh to catch up on, lucky you! I think I prefer earlier Queens stuff but it's all good and I eagerly await a new album!
-
That's a good way of doing it! Those two tracks are good, and were the singles from the album as well so there must be something about them. Have you tried their debut self-titled album or Lullabies to Paralyze? A lot of people seem to forget about the first album but it's my favourite by far
No shoe I was pretty far away from the stage, but I reckon that wouldn't have stood in his way if I'd him off

Thanks! I loved Larry going round playing detective over the ring stain I even made one of those moving GIF files of my favourite moment (all I can say in my defense is that there must've been nothing on the tele that evening!) I'd send you the link but it won't let me post it, it is good though
