  1. Reading through your comments a lot of people like 'It' I liked this one too; I think it is possibly the concept of an alien being that takes the form of whatever you are scared of that I found so gripping. I also liked 'Misery' which I found so much better than the film version eventhough I did also enjoy the movie. I didn't really like 'The Girl Who Loves Tom Gordan' Stephen King seemed to be attempting to take a different direction with this book which didn't really appeal to me. Also I didn't really like his first book 'Carrie' I don't know why it just bored me and it is only a novella.
  2. When reading classic novels it is important to appreciate the time period in which they were published. For example: We live in a much more visual world today due to the invention of television etc. so classic novels pre-1900 had to be more discriptive to stimulate the readers imagination. Anyway I just wanted to ask a question: has anyone ever read Caleb Williams by Mary Shelly's father William Godwin? I find this book very confusing and incoherant.
  3. The most popular of Shakespeare's plays has got to be Hamlet which is dark and gothic and contains one of the most famous acts of revenge ever in literature. At the moment this play is being performed in London starring Jude Law I tried to get tickets but they were all sold out. ***** Other Shakespeare plays I have read are: Macbeth **** Romeo and Juliet ** The Merchant of Venice *** The Twelfth Night *** Much Ado About Nothing **** The Winter's Tale *** Julius Ceasar **** King Lear ***
