The film was a poor reflection of the book. They moved the location from England to the USA and missed much of the detail. I think they changed the sex of the hero (Was she a girl in the film?) and added an older brother. Try the book!

  7. Hi

I wondered what you were reading a the moment. I'm reading (amongst other things) Chris Mullins A View from the Foothills. I don't normally read political books but I picked this up in Hatchards last week and the first page made me laugh. I'm enjoying it so far.

  8. Hi Ooshie. Weather has been better today. It was cold and grey yesterday (Sunday). I have started one of my new books Chris Mullins 'A View from the Foothills' about his time as a junior minister in the Labour government. It's a real eye opener and a wonder that anything gets done by the government in power.

What are you reading at the moment?

Enjoy the rest of the Ban...

  9. In London over weekend. Visited Hatchards and came away with 3 new books

I agree. I normally go to Waterstones when I'm in Picadilly but popped into Hatchards for a change. I loved the more intimate cosy feel of Hatchards. They were also doing a 3 for 2 deal (I imagine pushed by Waterstone's competion) and so I came away with 3 books and it could have been many more!

      Hi David

I'm reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese at the moment it's really good but I'm struggling to make time for reading as I've a lot going on family wise right now so don't know when I'll get round to finishing it although that hasn't stopped me from adding to my TBR pile on a weekly basis. Hope you enjoy your new book :)
