  1. No .. not really .. I was just being sarky Our girl was disqualified in all three of her short track events. In her last race she didn't appear to have done anything wrong .. she seemed to have been impeded herself .. but was dq'd all the same and though they do review the race in order to come to these conclusions .. there's no appeal or anything. Such a tricky event because jostling seems to be okay as long as no-one falls .. even then I'm not sure how much you can jostle (I don't know the jostle scale ) .. good word I like using it now I've started All the same I'm not sure she got her strategy right but it was difficult as she was a bag of nerves anyway after receiving death threats on Twitter
  2. Well it was so petty that all you can do is laugh .. I see they put the scores back up today so they obviously got over their hissy fit eventually No, nothing to be embarrassed about .. he obviously didn't do anything illegal and so fair's fair. I loved how they were so happy about winning .. practically rolling around in the snow Perhaps the German skier couldn't get up once he'd gone down. I remember my Uncle telling me that he was doing fine in a marathon race but then he needed the loo so popped into a public loo as soon as he saw one and then that was it .. his legs wouldn't go again
  3. I don't think I'll ever understand short track speed skating .. hate the fact that they disqualify you if you so much as look at anyone the wrong way. They should take a leaf out of the snowboard/ski cross .. anything goes there. Mostly I hate it that there's no appeal procedure .. very annoyed about Elise Shame the men didn't get a gold in the curling but still, a silver is not at all shabby Didn't agree with the decision last night re: women's figure skating. Thought that Yuna Kim was definitely better (Sotnikova stumbled coming out of one of her jumps for a start) .. still I guess it's all subjective. Did enjoy hearing Robin Cousins getting all het up about it though
  4. Yay the curling girls got the bronze ... well done Eve and co Enjoyed the ski cross .. madness (loved that three-way photo finish in the first quarter final ... brilliant! ) Watching the figure skating .. so many of the girls fall over on those triples or don't land them correctly .. must be so upsetting. Felt sorry for the little Russian girl yesterday .. hope she can skate a clean routine tonight.
  5. Hope you feel better soon Deborah Chicken soup has lots of healing properties .. especially chicken soup made by mum
  6. Really loved this .. hope you do too
  7. Yay!! .. was cheering Finland all the way .. they've had a brilliant day (bit mean that the Russians didn't project the result on the roof of the Bolshoi Ice Dome as normal but I guess they didn't want to upset the already upset locals ) Great day also for the GB men's curling team .. at last another guaranteed medal .. fingers crossed for the gold Shame about the ladies but hopefully they can still get a bronze.
  8. No .. as long as he gets the lion's share it's fine
  9. Well done Elise ... same again in the final please I should've said quarter-finals .. I was jumping ahead
  10. Oh Julie .. so sorry to hear about all your troubles It's so difficult to concentrate on reading when your mind is full of worry. Hope the hubster can find work soon and that'll relieve you both of that particular worry at least. Sending love and hugs xx
  11. I've just listened to that .. very enjoyable and excellently read
  12. Yes .. that's one for the list Though the reviews aren't great and the general concensus on Amazon is 'don't go there'
  13. .. and some of them they repeat to death. Perhaps they will put it on that new 'Drama' channel? Here's hoping (though it's not quite living up to its initial promise ) That's so annoying isn't it? I think I still have the Poldark series on video .. and some of the old Austen adaptations from the 80's etc .. yet no way to play them Not sure why I'm hanging onto them Don't think video will be making a comeback like vinyl
  14. Oh my .. it's better than Gold! Claire .. you bought this for me (the combined genius of your generosity and my impeccable taste ) so I need to read it soon and then put it on a pile for you. Great review tunn .. it was definitely on my 'soon to be read' list but it's just got a great big shove in the right direction I can't wait now.
  15. Really brilliant series and I imagine it looks stunning on Blu-ray. Watching the Sochi Olympics .. catching up with the two man bob and ice dance.
  16. I like the Jeeves books much more .. the two main characters are just so brilliantly depicted. Yes .. I hated it I normally love Timothy Spall but didn't like him as Lord Emsworth .. seemed all wrong (and other characters too) .. something got lost I thought. Though I remember warming to it slightly towards the end so perhaps it was just a case of getting used to it. I haven't caught any of the second series yet. Jeeves and Wooster with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie is sublime though ... the first two series in particular. What I do remember loving is Peter O'Toole as Lord Emsworth in the BBC dramatisation of 'Heavy Weather' .. the whole adaptation was excellent. Why don't they repeat things like that?
  17. Brilliant Janet .. so glad you enjoyed it Great review .. sums it up perfectly. The short Christmas story is very funny too.
  18. Yes .. I think it's his best known .. as far as Blandings is concerned anyway. Sorry you didn't enjoy it more Janet I've always enjoyed immersing myself in his literary worlds .. though more Jeeves & Wooster. I guess his silly sense of humour appeals Though I know the story from audio .. like Claire I've never read it so I'm looking forward to it.
  19. Well .. he knows I'll photograph the stuff for putting on blogs etc so I think this is helping me He's always been quite a romantic soul and therefore has made a rod for his own back Thanks Gaia I'm looking forward to it. I loved the first one too so here's hoping I pinched some of the chocolates that I'd bought for Alan .. all's fair and all that
  20. Yes .. well done the Netherlands .. you're having an awesome games
  21. Happy Birthday for Whenever It Was Steve! Hope you had a good day
  22. Love the snowboard cross .. very exciting and I love the commentary Looking forward to the men's tomorrow.
  23. Sounds brilliant Kylie .. what a fantastic venue I'm in two minds about seeing the movie as I know the ending and it parts company with the truth quite spectacularly but it does look like tremendous fun and the trailers look good.
  24. Sometimes I despair of people .. and then I come here *group hug* Hope she will be able to skate well in her preferred event next week. Those idiots will never ever achieve what she has already .. all they can do is hang around waiting to feed off of someone else's misery .. pathetic Not a good day for the GB curlers
  25. Yay!! Valentine's Day turns up trumps again. All the nagging paid off (let no-one ever say otherwise ) Will hopefully get around to reading it soon .. have flicked through to look at the pics of course
