  1.:shrug::shrug: Oh well never mind! What is Jeffrey Deaver like? Anything like Dean Koontz? Started Mr Murder the other day - but got distracted by Patrick Rothfuss: Name of the Wind.

Still got too much to :readingtwo: and :writing:! Anyway when you do get it and read it please don't spoil it for me!

  2. Bookjumper: Normally I like books to be a little bit less flowery with more action at the beginning - Ill-Made Mute changed my mind on an adventurous high octane beginning and, actually, it paid off in the end because the atmosphere she creates as the trilogy carries further on is absolutely magnificent. The Lady of Sorrows is really the one full of adventure and action and the language less flowery and the Battle of Evernight has an excellent conclusion. Please, stick to it ... the trilogy is WELL WORTH IT in the end! And I'm normally the sort of person that stops reading if a story is boring at the beginning. Cecilia Dart-Thornton is my exception!

I put this in a forum but I wanted to get the point across... also I feel like the only person who's ever even HEARD of her!

  3. Horrible ... Well treasure the moments you can. I spent the last week of my grandfather's life by the bedside of my grandfather. The second to last day of his life I couldn't take it any longer and walked out of the room and sat down in tears! I just hated to see a vibrant, loving man like he was being taken down by a blood complaint ... The tears hurt - then a nurse came by and stopped she told me:

"What would you rather be doing sitting here crying and possibly lose the chance to say goodbye to him - or go there, hold his hand and tell him you love him as many times as you can before you say goodbye!"

I went back - for ... (real tears coming just telling you this!) anyway. For about half-an-hour my mum was one side of the bed and I was on the other - he grabbed our hands and squeezed them tight - the last time I ever touched him - the day after he died!

  4. I thought it may be one of the impressionists ... my favourite is Monets Willow that he painted in 1919 towards the end of his life. I also, paradoxically, love Edvard Munch's Scream.

Though my favourite artist of ALL time is Josephine Wall. Have you heard of her?

  5. He has the doggy equivalent of Alzheimers - which is tragic as he was an intelligent dog (he would not chase after sticks or balls and play fetch) he used to give us a look as if to say - you threw it you get it I ain't!

Well as I said I didn't watch it but, for some reason, looking at her makes me feel sorry for her.

  6. How are you?

I am feeling depressed as my dog only has a matter of days to live - he's been there for almost half of my life and was my best friend.

Glad you like Susan Boyle - I actually feel sorry for her as I genuinely believe she thought she wouldn't get through the semis let alone the finals!

  7. I am terrified of Black Labradors. I also dislike German Shephards and Alsations. I am more a spaniel, poodle, terrier girl.

Yep, I write, I got poems in Writer's Corner. I also have a prologue of a fantasy story in there. I also write v. adult saga's one spanning the entire Twentieth Century. It's a very complicated story and love (of the romantic side), is a lot to do with it. Forbidden fruit, passions ... that sort of thing.

  8. Sadly Gyre that dog has now passed away.

The cats are cute aren't they. The ginger one is massive now - the photo in my background was taken months ago.

  9. Sadly that was my dear late departed best friend, Monty. The only way I can get to see his lovely brown eyes everyday now.

And yeah - I love the Mad Hatter. I wrote a naughty story involving Alice and the Mad Hatter, with Alice as a grown woman.

  10. Well I've had some really scary horrible bad experiences with big dogs. Give me a Jack Russell or a King Charles Spaniel. The only big dog I'd EVER own are Border Collies because they are like giant spaniels to me ... sooooo cute!

The only other big dog I am not afraid of are St. Bernards. I think they're soo lovely!

  11. You could say a mixture of them both. I have my comic romances as I have my serious murderous plotlines.

Lately one woman is married to a murderer and a man that almost raped her son's girlfriend because she's interfering in his life. But she still has feelings for him though a rather dishy lovely lawyer likes her!

  12. Awww you haven't got any comments yet ... decided to rectify that ...

  13. Have you managed to look her up yet Kylie?

  14. Hey Mia. I am off to the groups to set up King Jareth Appreciation Thread.

  15. I am actually designing a garden for me - I am calling it Nightwish as it's going to be full of dark purple/black and white plants.

  16. I am thinking of changing it to purple. Pink is girly but then I am proud of being girly ... I enjoy my femininity.

  17. I have recieved the book thanx! It's nice to recieve a parcel without having to look for an invoice! lol

  18. I must be the only one on the planet that can't stand Top Gear - James and Richard I don't mind but Jeremy absolutely does my head in and as he's the main presenter it means that I can't watch it ... besides I hate cars and prefer Drama. I am watching something called Hope Springs. I love this show and is the highlight of my Sunday!

  19. I think that he died in my arms which hurts - really does!

  20. I truly am sorry about your mum, Nici. Feel free to add me as a friend or even send me a PM if your feeling down, I don't mind people thinking of me as a shoulder to a cry on.

  21. Is that profile piccie you? Welcome to the forum!

  22. It was coming - and he did die on his own and not under a vets needle. I loved him so much what is worse is that June the 1st (yesterday) was the birthday of my late cat Spicy who died almost two years ago!

  23. No problem Kylie.

  24. RCee I loved those Wallander - would LOVE to read some of the books.

  25. She is absolutely incredible - I even done a jigsaw of one of her paintings - it is now stuck on a board ready to be hung up and nowhere to go!
