The God That Failed - Metallica
-
Jeez my reading has picked up this month!
-
I have been a member of audible for a few years now. I really like it, I think it is worth the cost if you are an audiobook fan.
The Help was the best audiobook I've heard.
-
The Haunting of Hill House - Shirley Jackson
-
The Narrow Corner - W. Somerset Maugham
-
I've just started Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. So far it has proved to be very entertaining.

(This Is A) Song For The Lonely - Cher

Never heard of her, but this book looks interesting. I think this will go in my library queue.

Contagion. That was some scary stuff, scary because it was plausible.

My musical tastes are so vast.
Usually I'm listening to Classic Rock (Led Zep. Lynrd Skynrd...etc). But I do like Heavy Metal (Metallica, Megadeth, Motorhead), Blues/Rock (Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd).
I also listen to a lot of Classical music as well as Classical Church Music (Hymnals). I'd say these are the top 5 genre's I listen to on a regular basis.

Am considering a Kindle for Christmas, so 2 questions -
Is there anyone who has bought an kindle/ereader and is NOT happy with it?
What do you find you are reading in your Kindle? Are you reading the same books you would have read if you were still reading tree books, I.e, new releases... Or, are you reading the freebie/cheap books available?
I have been happy with both my e-readers.
I read a lot of things I would not normally read. There are free books out there available from Amazon/BN that are actually pretty good. It takes some searching. I don't usually read new releases, because they cost too much but I've read some. Usually I'm reading older books that I've always wanted to read. I just received my first 'lend me' book on Kindle. My friend Lent me "Catching Fire" which I have 2 weeks to read.
No matter which ereader you get, you will love it.

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe it was only released in the UK or something. I can by it from a third party so it is not impossible to get. But I do find it odd that it isn't available on line directly from Amazon or B&N. Who knows.

This one is a non-fiction, I have not read it myself. It is on my TBR list though.
The Sociopath Next Door: The Ruthless Versus the Rest of Us
by Martha Stout

I go back and forth between my Kindle and my Nook. I own a 2nd-Generation Kindle, and a Nook color. I love them both. I have noticed I read way more books with the e-readers. And books I would (could) not normally carry. Such as 800 page hard cover books by Stephen King et al. I want to read them, but with shoulder problems they are difficult to cary to and from work, so the readers are perfect. I don't know how I lived all my life without this device!

Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins. Started it yesterday.
-
The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace
-
Yes often, I'm in there at least 2x a week. However, If I can get those darn books to download on my Nook, I will probably be in there a lot less. I have mastered getting the audiobooks on the ipod, this is my last hurdle.
The New York Public Library is an amazing system. I don't know how other libraries around the worlds are run, but I'm happy I live in in NYC.

I went to read about The Guardian Angel's Journal: Carolyn Jess-Cooke, it looks good, how did you like it?

If you really want to know about God Paun, I would recommend that you read the Conversations with God books by Neale Donald Walsch. The first book is quite slim from what I recall, but I should warn you that you won't want to stop there, but read the entire series. There are about 6 or 7 of them now, all of which are well worth a read. I can guarantee that you will learn a lot more from these about the nature of God/the Divine, whatever you choose to call it than you will from any version of The Bible and you won't ever look at things in the same way again !
Conversations with God is a brilliant set of books. I also enjoyed the books by Paul Ferrini. It is a series called "Reflections of the Christ Mind". Has anyone here read those?

Hiya "91"
Glad to hear there's another interested party re: Lorna Byrne about!
You may be interested to know that she's brought another book now "Stairways to Heaven" which takes us a bit farther into her experiences, work, and wonderful faith.
Lorna's books ccme across as a bit "unique" re: the presentation because they're dictated into a computer and then printed, as spoken. So I read them as if I'm actually sitting across from her (with a nice cuppa) listening as she talks - "Irish-isms" and all! Actually, I find it one of the charms of her books - this is the real Lorna we hear, not some carefully edited text.
I hope you give give "Stairways" a try, 91 - it contains a lot of value for us as we move into 2012, and also shows how we each can do so much with just a bit of positive focus.
I looked for "Stairways" in my local library, but they don't carry it. Only Amazon carries it I believe. I also wanted to buy it for my Nook or Kindle, but it only comes in hard copy AND Amazon doesn't sell it, I have to go through one of their carriers. Didn't this book come out earlier this year? Why is it so hard to find?
Yesterday I finish reading New Testament second time this year and this year I read Bible whole book New testament and Old testament and best book of history. But I going to visit America and only take backpack so I don't want to take Bible as very heavy and take room too much in backpack but does any people know small book about God which is good book and can find here. Thank you and God bless you.
Can you find just the New Testament in book form? That is much lighter to carry around. It is less than half the size of the full Bible.

Has anyone watched "The boy in striped pyjamas"?
I was sat there absolutely gutted, with a lump in my throat.
What a great, but sad film.
I've never felt like that since I wayched "The Champ" as a kid.
Steve
Yes, I've seen it. Very sad film.
