Like Nessicle, I mainly touch type (if that means what I think it does, using all ten fingers and looking at the screen while you type instead of the keypad), and especially now that I have the new computer I keep missing the Shift-button, or I hit - instead of .. Simply because the keys are in slightly different position in relation to each other, the spacing is different.

    That's right ii!

I find if I'm rushing I tend to miss a key unintentionally but then at work I do proof-read everything anyway but sometimes don't have time if I'm writing an email or posting on the forum.

  2. I'm a PA and went to College to train as a Legal Secretary, so my presentation i.e. spelling, grammer, punctuation, is essential to my job. Sometimes when I'm rushing to type though on the forum, I mis-judge my shift key (I'm a touch typist) and end up missing a capital letter when it's needed! But it does bother me in books or magazines when the spelling and grammer isn't correct and I'm constantly changing round my work colleagues' documents etc ha ha

  3. 1. I am double jointed in my toes and can make them click on demand.

    2. I have lived at 7 addresses in 4 years (complete nomad!)

    3. Ever since i had a laparoscopy on my stomach a few years ago and had to sleep with a pillow under my knee and stomach while lying on my side, I cannot sleep without having a pillow there now. Like supporting my stomach.

    4. I have had two laparoscopy surgeries in 3 years.

    5. I used to have pet rats.

  4. ooh I was wanting to read this and probably will still although, I'm all about the describing words to be honest. It helps me to use my imagination better if I can feel and understand things through the words.

But I definitely think it's one of those 'books to read before you die' types if you know what I mean lol

  5. hi Dan welcome to the forum!

I'm with you on the romance/action type books! I loved the Twilight saga also and hope to re-read them in a few months time I enjoyed them that much! I'm currently reading Bitten by Kelley Armstrong which is along similar lines

  6. I very much want to read War and Peace, I picked it up in a book shop and put it back down again - it was a bit daunting lol but I think I'm going to buy it and attempt to read it after I've got through the 15 other books tbr  it sounds like it is well worth reading

On a critical point, I would say that the Harry Potter series are the better written books. I think everyone I know who has read the Twilight series and enjoyed it, would admit that there are major flaws with the writing itself, but that the story captivated them enough to overcome the issues they had. Having said that, personally I felt the HP series peaked at book three, possibly because after that J.K. Rowling had started to make serious amounts of money, and the series had become such a phenomenon that I suspect the publishers and editors didn't want to say anything against their biggest moneymaking author.

*hides from potter fans for fear of backlash*

Well put about the writing style of the Twilight books.

I personally loved both series of books for very different reasons.

With HP I felt that I grew with the character and knew his every thought and feeling and when I got to the last book I was so deeply involved with the characters and loved them all - I think that's the sign of a brilliant writer.

With Twilight series, it was the unusual love story that captivated me (i can't stand slushy frothy chick lit love stories lol) and that made me want to know so much about each character. There are flaws with the spelling and sometimes the grammer etc but I can forgive Meyer that as she wrote such a fabulous series :friends0:

  8. I like your reading choices. You seem to have similar tastes to me. :D

I'll be interested in your thoughts on Valley of the Dolls as that's one I've been wanting to read for a while.

I don't think I could stomach American Psycho, but I'm getting curious about it.

And you've already more than doubled last year's total. Good for you! :D

Actually I quite want to read American Psycho. A few work colleagues have said it's very disturbing but a good read if you can stomach it lol. I'm intrigued though now

  9. Nessicle, that was just how I felt, and it certainly spoilt my experience.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one :D I think it was the last book that ruined it for me because the first two were very good, especially the second one (the film was the biggest let down though - like they'd picked parts of the book and shoved a film together in complete disarray lol)
