Hello everyone, i came across this site by googling the words book forums quite simple really dont know why i didnt earlier.
Anyhoo im a 3rd year university student studying wildlife biology and natural history battling with time to read books i should read and books i want to read for pleasure.
I would say i adore books, being surrounded by books or holding books especially hard backed books makes me all fuzzy inside :friends0:im sure many of you understand that.
I wouldnt say im addicted yet, like a few people i know.
My boyfriend probably thinks otherwise and learnt the hard way during our late night romantic walks i found out borders stayed open till 10pm
, lets just say i rarely not get dragged out of bookshops, or detoured away from them and stalls on the market. I was in the charity shop the other day and he became a baracade between the videos and the bookshelves so i didnt notice they were there, it was hilarious looking back, poor thing, i feel like i havent been in a shop 5 mins before being dragged out but people insist ive been there hours.
Well i feel like ive rambled on, i love the look of this site and hope to join in many posts and get inspiration and recommendations from you all, thanks
Sarah

I cant think of my 5 books i think people should read right now but i do know of one book i read a few years ago which has stayed with me and i never hear anyone speaking about it so i shall mention it now - Remember me - Lesley Pearce It is based on a true story and i think thats why it stayed with me more than if it was completely fiction.
The blurb on the back cover is:
Cornwall, 1786, and twenty yeear old Mary Broad is to be transported to Australia...
Mary is a mariner's daughter who makes the biggest mistake of her short life when she steals a silk hat from a passer-by. Soon she's sent far from home across cruel seas - and it will take all her courage to survive both the horrific conditions aboard ship and the unknown country that awaits her. But Mary is determined to make something of herself in the hope that, one day, she will return...
Based on a true story, remember me brings Mary Broad vividly to life in this moving tale of a woman triumphing against overwhelming odds.
Well i enjoyed it and just thought it bring it to attention of anyone interested, it left me with the feeling i could overcome anything (when focused)

i really want to post a reply to this post but if i started listing music/bands/singers/genres etc i like i would be here forever constantly thinking ive left someone out, i pretty much like everything, there is always a time, place and mood for all types of music.
Having said that i love 'tarja' nightwish, tuomas is a genius, each song tells a story so they have a similar feeling to books i guess. Also addicted to eluveitie at the moment which is a mix between folk metal and melodic death metal, they have a girl who plays the hurdy gurdy its great! Generally i relax to eva cassidy, or terry reid. Not a fan of pop too much, although songs are played over and over without your consent in shops and bars its bound to get in your head and when you have had a little to drink and you sing along and friends look at you surprised you know the words..... its not my fault!
Any one remember Arthur brown - fire - such a funny song!

Fox Evil by Minette Walters, and Land of the Living by Nicci French.
I really enjoyed both books until the ending. In both cases the protagonist was someone who had not been featured at all in the book until the ending. I was very disappointed.
I agree with your comment on nicci french i did feel slightly jilted of an explanation at the end, i liked the personal justice used though.
(if im remembering rightly)

oo just checked i do have life support,
also read another nicci french called beneath the skin which was a very good read, just have to say i tried jilliane hoffman and only read retribution and sad to say had no urge to carry on even though i had the sequel 'last witness' ready to read straight away, luckily i borrowed them i didnt buy them. Anyone else have similar experiences with similar authors to Tess?

I started reading her books early 2004 i think it was, i got my first book free from eve magazine - 'the surgeon' and since then i have been obsessed. The only similar book i had read before this was by Nicci French- land of the living which i loved. But once i tasted tess gerritsen's books i became hungry only for her books.
To be honest i havent read one of her books in a while it seems, since her latest one came out, cant wait for her new one to come out 'Keeping the dead', im waiting till her book signing in Cambridge to go get it signed.
I even dreamed about it last night but it was a nightmare because i was in the queue in the bookshop and i asked someone taller than me to get the book from the shelf for me, i didnt look at the cover assuming it was the right one, got to the desk spoke to her, and (stupidly i imagined she knew my name) i got the book signed. I went outside beaming
, got in the car and noticed it wasnt the right book it had a boxer on the front, it was hell! lol
I've already read:
The surgeon, the apprentice, the sinner, body double, vanish, the mephisto club, bloodstream, the bone garden, cant remember if ive read life support, i have gravity but i found it hard to get into, i shall retry soon, i keep meaning to get harvest though then that will be all of her thrillers i think.
Great reading, i must start re-reading them

Hello there
, ive only read the Age of Five trilogy by Trudi and loved them, im sad its ended, i will most probably re-read them soon enough but its never going to be the same not knowing whats going to happen next.
This has resulted in my interest in The black magician trilogy, but im put off with the thought they may be too childlish for my liking since reading Age of Five which was quite a mature story. That said i gladly read books recommended for children and teenagers (ie, phillip pullman, but it did have under currents to the main story which kept me hooked) but i cant quite put my finger on what is stopping me buying this trilogy, especially with the comparisons to Harry potter which i admit am not a fan of....i dont want to miss out of trudi's writing but im worried i may waste my money, hmm... any pursuading welcomed
