  1. I've finally decided to stop reading The Red Queen by Margaret Drabble. Too irritating by half. One of my book group reads for this month, but after 200 pages, can stand no more. Will try the other book instead.
  2. Absolutely loved The Vampires Of Venice last night! Matt is really growing on me as The Doctor, and I think this was his best performance, and the best scripted dialogue for him so far - great mixture of humour and seriousness, as well as the slightly bumbling persona against the clever Time Lord. It looked great too, all except a bit of CGI water which was the wrong colour and looked a bit cartoony, but minor quibble really.
  3. Have started reading The Red Queen by Margaret Drabble for my book group, but I don't like the style of the first person narrative at the moment, so I'm finding it hard going. Also started The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton as a lighter interlude between sessions on The Red Queen. Bookshop and library beckoned this weekend, so have bought: Burned by P.C. and Kristin Cast What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy Blundell and borrowed: The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton Airhead by Meg Cabot Being Nikki by Meg Cabot
  4. Yes, I've got every episode from the series 2 final onwards recorded. Needed to do some research, so have started rewatching them all again. Good times
  5. Strictly Come Dancing, series 3
  6. You bought Rebecca then? I hope you like it Have you read the two Jane Austen books before? Northanger Abbey is my favourite Austen, and I think Mansfield Park is her most accomplished piece of writing.
  7. I wanted to read this after Kylie reviewed it a while back, and now you've rekindled my interest ... but already have too many books to read and too long a wishlist! I think it'll probably still end up being added to the list though
  8. Hello!
  9. Ooo, that's mean! Why do I have to pick? Ummm .... The Thick Of It. Rhyming couplets or iambic pentameter?
  10. Don't blame me if you don't think it is! It's all the other people who recommended it on here in the first place - they made me read it Just finished it this morning, and it was brilliant.
  11. It's the curse of BCF - I had no interest in reading it until I saw reviews by other people here! You won't regret it though, Mexicola, it's fantastic
  12. Thanks Kelly. I suspect I might be buying it this weekend, as the library still hasn't actually bought any copies, and when I reserved mine, there were already three other reservations - there are now eight. The system doesn't work on a first come first served basis, but when the books are purchased, they are assigned to a specific library in the area, and people who belong to that library and put in a reservation get the book first, and then once all those reservations have been done and assuming no more come in for the local library, then the books get sent onto other libraries. My library never seems to get the new books I want allocated to them, so I could be in for a long wait on this one, and might just succumb to the temptation of Waterstone's.
  13. Still reading Rebecca. Just got to the end of chapter 19 and OH MY GOD, I never saw that coming
  14. At least he said at the end of the article that he'd still watch it regardless, as it's still great entertainment.
  15. I'm so glad you liked Burned, Kelly. I thought Tempted was already a step back in the right direction, so to know that Burned is really back on track, I can't wait for the library to email me to say it's ready to collect!
  16. Wow, that is a stunning picture of Rob *sigh*
