  1. Alternating between heavy rain or hail and bright sunshine in blue skies … so I guess that's what they call "changeable"!
  2. I never read the St Clare books … I might have to see if I can find them too, if only to see if the midnight feasts are more regular in that school!
  3. The Big Bang Theory
  4. I'm about halfway through Arsenic for Tea, a great follow up to Murder Most Unladylike
  5. Back to work today … was worried I wouldn't wake up for my alarm or would turn it off and go straight back to sleep this morning, so found myself awake at 5am and then could settle again, so ended up lying in bed wide awake waiting for the alarm to go off! First day back wasn't too bad, but the office was freezing as usual … glad to be back home in front of the fire now.
  6. Having just had a clear out of a shelf full of cross stitch magazines, I've decided to bite the bullet and subscribe to a patchwork and quilting magazine, but to save my shelves getting full, I've gone for the digital version for my tablet. I had previously downloaded them one month at a time, but I do love reading them and the annual subscription is much cheaper … and takes up no space in the house!
  7. Doctor Who, New Earth episode.
  8. Mushroom and pea cannelloni
  9. Yes, there is. Simon Pegg is one of the scriptwriters, and it's due for release next year according to IMDB.
  10. Changed my mind and started Arsenic for Tea as I just couldn't resist it any longer!
  11. I thought it was really good, and I'll definitely be getting Half Wild when it's published. I can't decide between Half Bad and The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender for my favourites of the teen category so far. I've just finished Cowgirl so I'll be reading Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill next, which is the last of the books I have from the teen category to read. There are two more I haven't got yet, but I think I'll probably get them next week.
  12. Oh no, I can't be to blame … it's not my fault her reviews are brilliant and make everything sound so good! I'll have to stop giving her books, it's the only solution to prevent me getting the blame in future.
  13. At the moment, the sun is out and it's blue skies, but again, showers forecast for later, and I think it might be heavy rain towards this evening.
  14. The Hundred and Ninety-Nine Steps by Michel Faber is £1.09 on the Kindle Daily Deal today. It's nothing like The Crimson Petal and the White story wise or in the setting, but the writing is just as good and I'd definitely recommend it.
  15. Happy new month! Nothing big planned today, just mooching around, bit of shopping, some reading … usual Sunday stuff really, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway. What's happening with you?
  16. It's the start of another new month, so time for a new thread. Last night, I finished Half Bad and I've now started Cowgirl by G. R. Gemin. What's happening in your book world?
  17. That's terrible! I hope Amazon come up with the right cover for you, Kay. It looks like the two publisher are W&N (for the nice cover) and Orion (for the other), but bizarrely, W&N are owned by Orion … why bother publishing two different versions???
  18. Modern Family
  19. Sounds like you've had a good start to the year, Kylie. Poppyshake's reading blog is lethal … I blame her for my growing wish list and TBR too. I reckon if you don't open any Book Depository emails and focus on telling yourself not to buy any more books … even if poppyshake has written a glowing review … you can get back on the wagon for March. In fact, what we need to do is make her read only books we've either already read, or that are already on our TBR lists!
  20. Another good month in February reading, and loads of new books … a fantastic start to the year, Kay! I think I knew you'd love Murder Most Unladylike, it's right up your street. Hope it ends as well for you as it started. Fingers crossed that your reading continues in the same vein in March.
  21. Yes, of course it's fine to join in the discussion, even if you don't keep to the timetable. Celia does seem to have more sense, but also maybe a bit scheming? I'm not sure if that's it, but I'm a bit suspicious of her and can't quite put my finger on why. Maybe I'm just over thinking it at the moment.
  22. I saw the result, but it's still good to watch the highlights programme. Vettori's just taken Smith's wicket.
  23. I loved that book too! Always nice to see someone else enjoy a book you've loved yourself. Woohoo!!! I can't remember anyone not liking The Humans … it's pretty unusual to find a book like that.
  24. Highlights of the Aus v NZ game from last night.
