Thanks guys, hope you both have great years too!
-
Yeah I was exactly the same, I'd love to go back and read the books I loved as a kid though, it'd be interesting to see how much I still like them
-
What a bargain! I've still got my original books from when I read them 30 years ago, just need to find them on the shelves (I think they're upstairs somewhere )
Oh that's cool, I wish I still had my original Enid Blyton books, I'm not sure where they disappeared too but now they've changed them and that makes me sad!

Nice range of books you've got to look forward to, Kelly. I've been thinking of having a Roald Dahl re-reading session at some point - we stayed at a cottage a few years ago that had a nice collection of some of his children's books as well as some fiction, and I must admit, I plundered it with glee while I was there!
Happy reading in 2011!
Thank you, you too! I can't remember the last time I read some Roald Dahl, so when I saw the big boxed collection for only £15 I had to get it! I'm hoping to get quite a few read this year, especially Matilda, I'm really looking forward to that one

Hey Kelly best of luck with your 2011 reading, I hope you find some crackers. Let me know what you think of Blood, Sweat And Tea because I've got that waiting on my Kindle ready to be read. Looks like you have some great reads waiting in your to-be-read pile. I spot Killing Floor in there by Lee Child; I finished it yesterday and it was a pretty good read.
Thanks Ben, best to you with your reading too I'm about half way through Blood, Sweat And Tea, and so far I'm really enjoying it, it's certainly interesting to read about the life as a paramedic, I don't think I could do it that's for sure! I'm glad you enjoyed Killing Floor, I'm hoping to get around and read that whole series this year
-
Well I'm starting off the new year with two books, Kiss Of Life by Daniel Waters, and also Blood, Sweat And Tea by Tom Reynolds which I'm reading on my shiny new Kindle I hope everyone has a great year with their reading, and here's to no wandering mojos!

Books read in 2008 (53)
Books read in 2009 (127)
Books read in 2010 (113)
With things being a bit rocky in real life at the moment, I'm not going to set any goals for this year, instead I just hope to at least hit 100 books, which I think should be doable. I'm also hoping to make a bit of a dent in my tbr book pile and try not to buy as many as I did last year. If I manage that, I'll be a happy girl

Don't judge me.
Me too

Of course we wont delete Genevieve! This whole thread is for discussion and you don't have to have the same opinion as everyone else. I do agree with what you said though, he is young and naive and is lured by someone that was great at manipulation.

It's Complicated, I actually rather enjoyed it

I've barely read anything for weeks, it sucks! So I'm going to try and read Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane in the hopes it kicks my mojo up the bum
-
8 people voted for this book, so I'm really surprised that more people aren't taking part

Great answers so far! Is anyone else joining in with this months read?

It is assumed that you have read the book before reading posts in this thread, as the discussion might give away crucial points, and the continuous use of spoiler tags might hinder fluent reading of posts.
Synopsis from Amazon
In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe--probably the best-loved of the Narnia Chronicles--four children are sent to live in a rambling, old house, and in an empty, forgotten room they find an old wardrobe which leads them into the magical land of Narnia, a place doomed to perpetual Darkness unless the children unite with Aslan the lion against the evil White Witch to restore joy and light to the land.
Some basic questions to consider:
1. Who was your favourite character and why?
2. Was there a particular part you enjoyed/disliked more than the rest?
3. Was this the first book you've read in this genre/by this author, has it encouraged you to read more?
4. Were there any parts/ideas you struggled with?
5. Overall, was reading the book an enjoyable experience?

Sheesh, I rarely pay £10 for a hardback, let alone for an ebook!
