The next two were: The Art Of Racing In The Rain - Garth Stein Quantum - Manjit Kumar So yay! Books coming in the post, always makes me happy. The ones I decided against (just for now) were: The Once & Future King - T. H. White Dorian: An Imitation - Will Self The Maze Runner Trilogy - James Dashner Dracula: The Dragon Prince - Michael Augustyn.

I've gotten through 120 pages of Vlad and 73 of Wuthering Heights.

Has anyone read The Dracula Tape by Fred Saberhagen? I recently stuck it on my TBR because it got pretty good reviews on Amazon.

I'm a little behind - I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Wuthering Heights, Frankie. The first time I read it, I really struggled with the second half, and with the relations. Now that I know the story inside out because of studying it in both secondary school and university, and because I found something I really love in it, it's one of my favourite books.

I love them too, and they're one of the best things in the book. They explain 'historical' references, explain various myths which are commonplace in the book, and best of all, contain bibliographic references (name, date and page number) to books written by various characters which don't actually exist!

It does have sex in it, is the only thing. So far the non-standard stuff is rare and implied rather than heavily described, and one descriptive standard scene. (I'm nearly halfway through). But nothing I wouldn't say you could just skip over, it's all pretty short.

Still reading Vlad, hoping to get through a good chunk tonight, as I'm not doing art at the moment and amn't so distracted. (Says she, posting on a a forum, rather than reading.) Love, love love. As soon as this is finished I'm going purchasing a large section of Humphrey's bibliography because I'm utterly compelled by Vlad's story. I still can't help but feel sorry for the man. He hasn't killed anyone (who wasn't trying to kill him) yet though, so that might change. He's a tough cookie, but he was brought up by his enemy tough cookies who treated him horrifically. Also going to start Cinema Blue tonight. @Poppy & Giulia: Between the two of you that Byatt book has caught MY eye and all,I think I'll have to get it! It might not be the best read out there, but it sounds informative and involved, which I love. @Giulia: You'd love JS & Mr.N. Byron is only in it briefly, but it's a great book.

Read a bit more of Vlad - absolutely loving it and flying through it when I pick it up but I'm having an 'art attack' lately and am doing little else. Also received 'Cinema Blue' by Sue Rulliere in the post to review.

Ahhh okay. Well I really, REALLY hope you enjoy it and that the good sides win out over the niggly bits Though like you say, it might just be that for you Fantasy isn't a genre worth reading.

The prologue is a fantastic touch, I'm really glad we get to see that. And I'm not saying a word!

Personally, I LOVED book three. But it is, metaphorically, on a whole other planet, as they say. It's like, 'just how crazy can I make this story?' So some people love it, some hate it, most agree it was ultimately a great ending.

The second book is considered by many to be the best in the trilogy. And it does have some fantastic moments.

@Steve: Sorry I didn't reply yet, I thought I had. Hah! Glad you enjoyed it though. ETA: @Raven: Oh it has flaws, but I don't know anything about "The Magicians Guild" so I don't know what you're referring to. I also imagine you're hard to impress, so you'll probably find a LOT wrong with it.

Trust me, Stargate isn't better than Star Trek. It's more mindless and more action-adventure, so it depends on what you want really, but nothing beats ST for me.

He's a member of the Stargate team. Stargate SG-1 is a sci-fi mostly-action series, second only to Star Trek: TNG. It's epic.

I love Daniel Jackson. <3 Cali, he's an archaeologist, speaks over 20 languages, has allergies (true nerd) is a peacemaker by nature and rambles He's the best.
