  1. A book which took me on an emotional journey like practically no other ever did was "A Soldier of the Great War" by Mark Helprin. At various points in the story I laughed out loud [rare enough] and at others I blubbered like a wee baby! When it was finished I wanted to cry again - simply because it was finished.. READ IT - YOU WON'T REGRET IT
  2. Has anybody read "Manuel" the biog of the serial killer? I don't often read such books, normally preferring fictional crime but I stumbled on this particular book by a lawyer called Allan Nicol and enjoyed it immensely, that sounds a bit odd doesn't it but many people like me regularly enjoy shows like criminal minds or numb3rs without feeling weird about it.. This book made me realise where shows like that get their story lines from - real life is much stranger than fiction! This guy Manuel liked to live surreptitiously in his victim's houses with them for a few days before murdering them in their beds, he'd hide in wardrobes or attics. He was also an extreme sexual deviant in days when such things were much less widely known about than they are today.. All in all a worthwhile and interesting read, if anybody does read it I'd enjoy a discussion here..
