  1. Me and Emma by Elizabeth Flock had an affect on me. I felt for Carrie, through whose eyes you saw the story of having an abusive step-father and an inadequate mother. You really want an happy ending for the two girls and then you get the twist at the end.
  2. I've been jumping from book to book without finishing anything recently. Till this weekend I bought Whistleblower on Friday and haven't been able to put it down. I love this woman's style of writing and her stories. They're easy to read without being dumbed down, I get pulled into the characters' stories and I'd rather be curled up on the sofa with one of her books rather than Brad Pitt (OK I might be stretching it there).
  3. I liked listening to Kerrang when I lived in an area that my radio could pick it up. When I moved I started listening to Virgin but was easily bored with them rotating the same 5 songs. Now they've rebranded to Absolute radio and have more control over the station, it's improved vastly. Shame they had to move the Geoff Show though. I used to love listening to him in bed.
  4. I've no idea who Nicolas is, but I was impressed by her last night. I don't think I could have done what she did, so kudos to her. But did she really ask afterwards if she could get pregnant after eating the kangeroo testicle? I heard that on the radio this morning and just hope she was joking! I hope Kilroy's out asap. I can't stand the man.
  5. I saw them at Give It A Name back in May. I'd love to see them again. I think my favourite at the moment is the Stronger cover and the Kill. I loved the vid to Welcome to the Black Parade. Their jackets are great
  6. There are some great ones. Some of brought tears to my eyes either because they're just so touching in one way or another.
  7. I love post secret and visit the blog every Sunday: http://postsecret.blogspot.com. I recommend this site to anyone who will listen. Some of the secrets are quite sad; others can be funny or heart lifting. My favourite this week is click me. I tend to save the ones I like to my laptop so I can look at them any time I like as the site is updated every week and old cards replaced with new ones. I placed some bids on his books on eBay but lost I might ask for some for Christmas.
  8. I like MCR - Cemetary Drive is one song I won't skip on my ipod. What do you think of 30 Seconds to Mars? Their earlier stuff isn't all that, but their last album was good. I saw them at Give It A Name...Jared Leto is yum
  9. It took me a couple of attempts to get into the book. Once I was a couple of chapters in I couldn't put it down. I loved it!
  10. I'm reading The Good Women of China: Hidden voices by Xinran. It's a collection of letters, conversations, and so on where women in China talk about themselves and their lives, revealing secrets they wouldn't normally be able to talk about openly. I've read the first couple of chapters. The first was heart wrenching - a girl being told by her mother to suffer her father's daily rapes so as not to bring shame on the family. In the end she makes herself so ill she has to stay in hospital, only to die from her wound. The second chapter is about female uni students who found they could make a career in business and be taken (relatively) seriously by becoming a mistress of a businessman. A life a whole lot better than the villages they come from. I've read a few books about life in China in recent years (such as Wild Swans and a love story told by a man, which I forget the name of), and all of them have made me so glad I live in Britain. It's amazing just how different our cultures and lifestyles are.
  11. That sounds like a great idea for a Christmas pressie for my sister. She loves QI (who doesn't?!) and is now into reading.
  12. I think it's a clever ad too but for some reason the robot scares me (bad childhood dreams maybe). My brother doesn't like them for the same reason. I saw the Post Office's advert for customised stamps at the gym this morning. I liked the ginger tom!
  13. what can i say? i like the bad boys.
  14. I had Mrs Norton for German. She scared the hell out of me, which spurred me to get an A j!!ust to show her. I had Miss Whitaker and Miss Jones for form teachers...and Mr Baker. I had such a good report from him but I think that's only because he had no idea who I was.

No, I moved to Hampshire a couple of years ago. Commuting into London from Dartford was a mare so I had to get out and start again. Did you ever go to Zens (Air & Breathe now, I think). What about Bridewells? Wow...so long ago :)

  15. I've read most of her books. They're good to wind down with but didn't think Sparkles was up to her usual standard. I struggled with that one which I don't usually do with her books.
  16. I love her books when I want a 'brain break'. I often wonder if they're really written by her though. Some of the language that's used... I can't imagine coming out of her mouth - she seems so straight laced!
  17. No, it's not part of the Shopaholic series and I wasn't as impressed by it as I was as them. It's not too bad for a quick, chick lit read.
  18. Cute lil'un by the way :)

  19. Hi Michelle...I'm getting on a bit now. I left in '94 and now I'm 32 :)

Did you ever have Garner for Maths? What about Mr Dennis?

  20. I'm sure I didn't miss last week's but it felt like it. During the "in the previous episode" intro there were a few scenes I didn't recognise - like the Petrelli's dad being in bed. And Sylar's good?! He's so sexy when he's bad. It's jumping around a bit too much for my liking at the moment. It feels as if they're making it up as they go along. A bit like Lost, which made me lose interest.
  21. I know! I just want him to get a decent hair cut. She and Mike should definitely get back together
  22. Thank you Bev - thanks for the add. I've tried to respond to your message but can't work out how to post on your wall It's too early in the week to think!
  23. I am! I don't post much in the other two forums I visit. And I've already recommended this place to friends.
  24. I've just watched that. It was sad. Boys On The Side makes me cry. It's such a good film and I'll never get bored of it.
  25. I'm a couple of episodes in and really like it. As others have said, jumping forward 5 years is a clever way of getting new story lines in. I was sad that Mike and Susan broke up though. I'm really missing Gaby's glamour though. I loved the old her. Aren't they all looking a little less worse for wear though! Those 5 years must've been spent swimming in Botox
