  1. Time to read Lords and Ladies then! (but don't do that unless you have read Equal Rites, Wyrd Sisters and Witches Abroad first!). Glad you enjoyed the book fair, when do you move to a bigger apartment library?
  2. Fixed!
  3. He wrote the Doctor Who story Remembrance of the Daleks, don't you know! (and very good it was too!).

Bit of a shock result for South Africa . . .
  5. She made a TV program about that around the time the book came out. I remember watching it, but remember very little about it.
  6. I'm actually surprised by my apathy this year. I've followed very little of the pre-season build up, I doubt I'll be bothered to tape Qualifying tomorrow (although I'll probably watch the re-run), and I'm starting to think there are better things I could be doing with my summer weekends that spending a good proportion of them in front of the box. Also, there are rumours that the Beeb will be pulling out of covering the sport next year which will mean a return to ad breaks at best, or more likely the sport moving to Sky, and that really will be the end of it for me . . .
  7. The soundtrack for the last Doctor Who Christmas speical. Katherine Jenkins is really rather good on it . . .
  8. Tis a good book that! I started Kraken, by China Miéville.
  9. Discworld fans are a pretty friendly lot, they don't point and laugh at the newbies (they just hit them over the head with their Ninja Morris Poles!). Have fun at the bookfair, and try to leave some trees standing for the rest of us!
  10. Twilight star finally realises how bad the films are . . .
  11. I'm going to try and book a ticket for Norwegian Wood this weekend (it's showing at a local film club in early April). I was in two minds as to whether I wanted to see it whilst reading the book, but having seen the trailer again since I finished it last week, it looks very good so it will be off to the picture house for me (unless the three showings they have are fully booked, in which case that will be me awaiting the DVD release!).
  12. ^ No Hogfather? ETA: Just seen your book blog and realised you have read that as well!
  13. Aww . . . Poor Pedro. I have started reading a Mike Gayle Quick Read - Men at Work.
  14. Joe Abercrombie's books are quite heavy on the blood and guts, aren't they?
  15. That's pretty much where I started as well - was it the old Titan novels you read, or the James Blish adaptations?
  16. There are literally hundreds of books on the Titanic, but A Night to Remember, by Walter Lord is pretty much the definitive account of the sinking.
  17. Do you take a small pack horse with you when you go book shopping?
  18. Just finished Norwegian Wood. Very good, but I'm going to have to have a think about it before I say any more.
  19. Just to point out, I'm not actually recommending Karin Slaughter, she was the second writer to spring to mind when I saw the thread title. I tried reading one of her books but didn't get more than a couple of pages in, I was completely put off by the OTT and cliché way she wrote a rather graphic murder.

And just how many World Cups have Australia won this past year, hmm?

Least I remind everybody, we are the current holders of the Twenty20 World Cup . . .

^ They still won the Ashes though . . . And is that Ponting throwing another strop over there?
  23. I'm celebrating St. Patricks Day with that well known Irish combo, Pizza and Peroni!
  24. Has she tried Patricia Cornwell or Karin Slaughter?
  25. Why not do both at the same time?
