  1. thank you! I'm really into red at the min, even my kettle is red! lol :smile2:

How you doing today? Is the ankle still sore?

  2. thank you! It's been hard work and its still a work in progress but I'm very proud of it, and thank you for the comments on the pics! :D I am indeed reading a Stuart MacBride  'Cold Granite', the first of a series. So far it seems pretty good, unfortunately my mojo is still off in pale blue yonder somewhere  Have you read anything by him?

How've you been btw? Did you have a good weekend? Hope you're well

  3. Thanks  I'm sure my new GP will be ok and I'm sure us two bookworms will both be fine soon enough :D It was just before my op I discovered the forum and I'm glad I did. It was a great help when I was off my feet. I've also met some great friends (including your good self of course :D). Its great to have someone to chat to, especially a fellow book addict!! I am so addicted though, I even paid for premium membership! :o

You're so right about coming off tonight though. Even though I love coming on, I love my hubby more!

  4. Thanks  it actually says: 'If I promise not to kill you can I have a hug?' They're by a guy called Jeff Thomas and the characters are called Pon and Zi, they're actually quite cute!

Shame about your msn, but you know if you want to write me on here/facebook/email its fine, I love getting your letters! Sometimes facebook instant messaging is so slow and never seems to work properly for me :irked: but we can always try ;) You're right, I would rather chat in private, I'm not really one for discussing my probs in public, always fear I'm boring people!

Anyhoo, I am going to make a conscious effort to be on here more again ( I have my thoughts to do on Odd Thomas) so hopefully get back to normal! :friends0::friends0: Take care xoxo

  5. Thanks for your kind words about my Dad, I think he would have been so proud of me & that makes me happier.

That's such a shame about your brother, I do understand tho. Luckily one of my brothers and I are very close, I'm 4 yrs younger & when he got his 1st car, naturally I thought :yahoo: We used to go to loads of places together and he took me everywhere. I luv him to bits.

  6. Charm

    Thanks I hope so too!

I dont think anyone would be offended - its good to lighten things up anyway:lol:

  7. Thanks Inver for your kind thoughts and i hope your Dad's good phase lasts a good while. Unfortunately I lost my Dad in 2001 through exactly the same thing as my Mum, (seems like history repeating itself) although she seems to be suffering from it a lot longer.

They say its hereditary - theres no hope for me then! Too much of a coincidence for me to escape it methinks! lol ... If I start goin on about what time the next train is coming or asking everyone if they sure they have the same colour socks on just bann me from the forum :10_confused::crazy:

  8. Thanks m8  Nice of you to notice me not here :friends0:Just phoned electric co for update and been told it will be 9pm tomorrow before we're due to be restored! :( I'm afraid it's off to our friends house for a bath and some heat

I hope you have a lovely weekend and get your quilt finished, is it like a patchwork? Post pics when it's done! :D

  9. That's so nice of you to say! thank you  I am very proud of it, so much time and energy has gone into it, sometimes feeling very overwhelmed by it all and tempted to pack it in, but we're getting there!

Hey I've just noticed the time, it must be really late there! I was just about to say 'good morning' like here, but I guess it should be 'good evening'

Hope you have a lovely weekend! :D

  10. The sweeney todd trailer just makes me want to see it more - even tho he plays a mad man

Did u see K-Pax wth Kevin Spacey? I thought that was brill and i believe he's in the new superman movie called 'Superman - Balls of Steel' I think  I could be wrong lol

  11. The Twilight series is purely research! :D I'm doing my civic duty so I can warn others off them hehe. Besides, Kookie wants to read them? Oh who am I kidding ... I did like the film, it was so bad and the story wasn't even great but there was just something about it! I'll let you know how I get on.

The next Dex book is just as good as the others, I won't say too much but I don't see why its getting bad reports. He's just as charming and witty but you will see why its called Dexter in the Dark, poor Dex :(

    Another post coming ...

  12. Ugh, that's not good, I hate allergies. I'm allergic to something, don't know what, along with penicillan. I have to take anti-histamines every day otherwise I tend to swell up in very inconvenient places including my tongue! This, I believe can be pretty dangerous so I don't mind taking the tablets  I hope you get your allergy sorted soon, horrible to have.

Thanks for the house comments :D, I did have to have a quick tidy before I took pics, I even made Kookie get off her pc for 10 mins! Still a bit to go with the house but its coming along.

I'm reading Cold Granite by Stuart MacBride at the min. I use the term 'reading' loosely ... my mojo up and gone again :irked: What about you? What are you reading?

  13. We don't celebrate Mid Summer here although next Sun is Father's Day. We will be going to friends to stay over and if the weather is good they'll be having a bar-b-que. Not sure how if we'll stay the full weekend, we have a dog and am considering leaving my son, who's just turned 16, to stay here overnight on his own to mind the dog. He probabaly won't want to go anyway, he's not really fussed on going out with his Mum Dad and wee sister anymore! If he does stay on his own I'll let him have one of his friends stay too, just one mind you, I figure between the pair of them they could manage not to burn the house down :icon_eek: This will be his first time home alone overnight, its a really big deal and I'm as nervous as hell about it!

Not sure if I'd like to go spend 4 days in a cottage with people I don't really know, is there nothing else you could do? Although I suppose you could take a stack of books with you ;)

  14. Well done! Your right I am proud of you :D Now you've a whole week without worrying who you have to buy for, & you dont have to waste precious time with your bf shopping for other people!! Brilliant! :D We'll have you totally organised yet!

I'm so organised its scary! Just to clean the house Mon & Tues then that leaves xmas eve when my OH & I cook off the turkey & veg, make soup & pavlovas and settle down in the evening with the kids to watch national lampoons xmas vacation while getting rather tipsy & eating loads of goodies! We do this every year but at least this year it will be the first time Santa doesnt have to climb up into the attic and rummage around in the dark looking for pressies!! Not a good idea when your slightly inebriated  My daughter is 12 now so she doesnt believe any more, but at least the magic is still there thank goodness :D

If I don't see you I hope you, your bf and both your families have a fantastic xmas and a brill 2009! xoxo

    :merry:

  15. Well I certainly hope this 'phase' passes sooner rather than later. I hate the thoughts of you having these episodes.

Think I'll give the dry crackers a miss thanx and go get some with butter and cheese! To hell with the bloody diet! Hah!

  16. Well I hope the psychiatrist soon gets you sorted out with something that helps. For me it took a couple of years to find something that did, so I guess you're almost there! I really do hope you find something soon, its a hateful thing to have to suffer. I'm sure the financial stress didn't help either so I'm glad thats sorted at least

You've put me in to mood to buy books again :irked: I think the charity shops may be getting a visit from me rather soon to see if they have any new stuff ;) I hope you enjoy Grave Sight too, although I wouldn't rush to get The Picture of Dorian Gray unless you particularly like Oscar Wilde  I found it rather tedious

  17. Well I kinda have to  I don't want to appear like I'm hanging on to them unnecessarily. They're not coming all at once though so I'll maybe squeeze a bit of Dexter or Twilight in between :D I'm looking forward to them too so I don't mind.

Are you getting on any further with Devoted Dexter? I thought you had started Dexter in the Dark, I hope I haven't said anything to spoil it! :o I don't think so though.

  18. Well look at you Miss Moderator you! Does this mean you can throw me out or bann me or whatever you mods do?

Well done hunny, it couldn't have went to a nicer person

  19. Where the hell have you been? Do you have any idea how worried I've been about you?? *standswithhandsonhips*!!

Hehehe I kid of course ;) Did miss you loads though *hugehug* Thanks for popping in, you've caught me at a hobbling moment, between my back and my sprained limbs I'm a walking/hobbling disaster!! LOL Glad to see you back honey, hope you and the f...

  20. Why thank you! :D How've you been? I just read your review and it sounds great, so naturally it's added to my rapidly growing wishlist! I really really really want to get buying some of these books!

    Hope you're well

  21. Why thank you! :D I have to say though, you were the one who directed me towards reading the books and I passed the recommend onto Ceinwenn. She actually bought me the second in the series as a pressie for lending her the first! I was gobsmacked! She's a really genuinely nice, generous person. I was wondering, do you think we should start a Dexter group? Do you think there are enough on here to warrant it? I only really know of the 3 of us  What do ya think?

Thanks for the profile comment too :D I got that library pic of that wallpaper site Bookbee posted, there's loads!

  22. Charm

Why thank you! I'm glad you like it, when it's finished I'll be putting pics up of the outside. :D Yours looks gorgeous too, did you build it as well? You look like you're as snowed in as we are, country living eh?

How are you enjoying the forum? Thanks for the add btw :smile2:

  23. Wow thank you! That sounds great! I've just finished Dracula The Un-Dead and am really in the mood for more vamp/supe reads. Also it sounds perfect for kookie, I will definately be checking out your review ;) I have 4 books to review, I really haven't been keeping my thread up to date at all  but I want to complete it by the end of the month so I can start a brand new one for next year :D

I'm finally ready for xmas! Just the turkey etc to cook tomorrow. Just as well though, we're basically snowed in!

How are you? Are you all ready? I'll bet the kids are so excited, mine are both teens so I kinda miss the kiddie nerves  I hope the snow hasn't affected you too much.

I hope you're well hun

  24. Wow, that sounds like a lot of hard work, (I hate moving) but good for you! I'm sure your Mum and Dad were very glad to have you helping (and organising things by the sound of it!). You're Dad sounds like he's very proud of you, he also sounds a bit like mine, a man of few words but you sort of knew what he meant. Ok you're excused this time for your absence (don't make a habit of it :irked: ) I missed ya.

Our house is coming on slowly but surely. Its tiling you see, very time consuming and my OH is doing it all by himself (he's the best tiler I've seen). I don't mind though, I'm just glad to be moved in and relatively settled. I'll post pics on my profile when its done, oh in about a year!

The 8 book bookring is the Stooie Stackhouse ones on offer from Gyre by the same author who wrote Grave Sight, I enjoyed that so I signed up. They're on my wishlist too so yay! Only thing is you receive 3 books at a time! :icon_eek: Like I said, I'll be busy.

  25. Wow! A 3 story book store sounds fantastic, such heaven! Finland sounds a very lovely & interesting place. Before I started chatting to you on bcf it never really occurred to me to visit it, but I'm quite interested. I'd love to visit a lot of places in Europe some time when the kids are a bit older and we can leave them at home! ;) Finland has now appeared on my list :D.

I love your english language quirks  Your version of 'earsdrop' makes much better sense. Your english is excellent, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about. :D

I will indeed let you know when I've gotten that letter finished. It has to be via his publisher so I dare say it will take a while to reach him

I'm now well rested and showered so I feel much better. I've eaten that much cr*p this weekend all I want to do is drink fruit juice and eat fruit! Wonders will never cease! I'm just starting another Erica Spindler book so I'll let you know what it's like, her last one was really good.
